Greek Minister Of Finance
The Ministry of National Economy and Finance ( el, Υπουργείο Εθνικής Οικονομίας και Οικονομικών) is the government department responsible for Greece's public finances. The incumbent minister is Kostis Hatzidakis of New Democracy. Minister's role According to Article 73 of the Constitution of Greece, any bills relating to pensions must be submitted by the Minister of Finance. According to Article 75 of the Constitution, any bill relating to expenditure or a reduction in revenue must not be introduced unless accompanied by a special report on the bill, signed by the Minister of Finance. Finally, according to Article 79 of the Constitution, the Minister of Finance must bring the budget before the Hellenic Parliament at least one month before the start of the fiscal year, for it to be voted on. Stefanos Manos ( el, Στέφανος Μάνος; born 1939) is a Greek politician, former member of the Hellenic Parliament, and a former government minister. Career His political career started in the New Democracy party, for which he became a Member of Parliament in 1977. During the 1980s he would be the unpopular forerunner of Greek privatization. In April 1999, he formed his own party, The Liberals, but following its unsuccessful performance in the elections held in June for the European parliament (1,62%), he returned to the Hellenic Parliament firstly in 2000 as MP in co-operation with the major party of New Democracy, and again in the 2004 elections as independent by the statewide list but surprisingly on a rival PASOK ticket. Dimitris Tsovolas
Dimitris Tsovolas ( el, Δημήτριος Τσοβόλας; 4 September 1942 – 25 February 2022) was a Greek politician who served as Minister of Finance from 1985 to 1989. Early life and education Tsovolas was born at Melissourgoi, a village outside Arta, Epirus in 1942. He went on to study law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked as a lawyer in Arta. Political career Tsovolas later began his career in politics as a member of PASOK. He was first elected member of the Parliament representing Arta in 1977. He was reelected in 1981 and 1985. Gerasimos Arsenis ( el, Γεράσιμος Αρσένης; 30 May 1931 – 19 April 2016) was a Greek politician who served as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament and as a Minister in several Governments with the Panhellenic Socialist Movement.
