Greatest Hits (Five Star Album)
''Greatest Hits'' is a compilation album by the British pop group Five Star released in 1989. It was the group's first 'greatest hits' collection after a run of successful singles and albums since 1985. It contains all of the band's UK Top 50 singles including the non-album single, "With Every Heartbeat", which was released earlier in the year (although that track was not included on the LP version). Another new track, "Something About My Baby", was included on the CD and cassette versions of the album but was not released as a single. This track was composed by David Gamson of the synthpop trio Scritti Politti. The release of ''Greatest Hits'' marked the end of the group's association with RCA Records. However, the album proved to be Five Star's least successful release up to that point, selling only 15,500 copies and peaking at a lowly #53 on the UK Albums Chart, highlighting the band's rapid decline in popularity. After the release of ''Greatest Hits'', the group signed t ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Another Weekend (Five Star Song)
"Another Weekend" is the name of a 1988 hit single by the British pop group Five Star. It peaked at #18 on the UK singles chart, but reached #1 on the UK Dance chart. In the US, the single reached #23 on the R&B charts. The single was a return to the charts for the group after a short break to record their fourth LP '' Rock the World''. Due to declining record sales, the group were intent on changing their clean-cut image. They opted for a new, raunchier leather-clad look in the accompanying video, whilst the track demonstrated a slightly harder edged dance sound. However, the changes were not enough to reverse the group's decline, and sales continued to dwindle. 7" single PB42081 and 7" gatefold with stickers: 1. Another Weekend (Edit) 04:10 2. If I Say Yes
"If I Say Yes" is a 1986 single by British pop group Five Star, and was the follow-up to their biggest-ever UK single, the #2 ranked " Rain or Shine". It was the fourth release from the group's '' Silk & Steel'' album. A 3:43 remixed version of the song (an edit of the cassette-only "Lew Hahn New York Remix"), which was the version released in the U.S., appeared on the group's 1989 ''Greatest Hits'' album. Critical reception Jim Reid of ''Record Mirror'' considered "If I Say Yes" a "typically bubbling disco pop" song very similar to Five Star's previous singles, "with a sax solo, silly clothes and plenty of big grins". In another issue of the same magazine, James Hamilton described the song as a "speedily wrigging and tinkling Jackson 5-ish 120 bpm galloper". Their first three single releases had all failed to make the Top 100. The song's b-side, "First Avenue", was an instrumental track written and co-produced by band member Deniece Pearson and credited to the Five Star Orchestra. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance in 1986 The year 1986 was designated as the International Year of Peace by the United Nations. Rock My World (Five Star Song)
"Rock My World" is the name of a 1988 hit single by British pop group Five Star. It became their last UK Top 40 hit, peaking at #28. The video saw the band leather clad, with long hair extensions, dancing in the bottom of a quarry, with dumper trucks driving around them. The B-side, "Sweetest Innocence", received a BPI award for best instrumental. Throughout 1988, Five Star's record sales continued to decline. Their album '' Rock the World'', from which this single came from, only reached #17 on the album chart (their lowest placing for an album at that time).
