Greatest Hits (2005 Blondie Album)
''Greatest Hits'' (not to be confused with the 2002 compilation of the same name) is a CD/DVD compilation album by the band Blondie released in the UK on November 8, 2005 and internationally on March 6, 2006. It peaked at number 48 on the UK Albums Chart and charted for 7 weeks. This was the first Blondie hits package to combine the CD and DVD formats. Overview The CD contains the band's greatest hits including their comeback hit "Maria", a UK #1 in 1999, as well as tracks from their latest studio album ''The Curse of Blondie'', a new remix of "In The Flesh" and a mashup of " Rapture" and The Doors' "Riders on the Storm" entitled " Rapture Riders", which was a top ten hit on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart in 2005. The DVD includes videos of seventeen of the band's greatest hits. The compilation was initially released under ''Greatest Hits'' title with a sticker ''Sight + Sound'' on the cover. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear" is a song by the American band Blondie, from their 1978 album ''Plastic Letters''. Written by recently departed Blondie bassist Gary Valentine, the song was based on the telepathic connections that Valentine believed he experienced with his girlfriend, journalist Lisa Jane Persky, while on tour. Though Valentine had left the band, drummer Clem Burke convinced the band to record the song for ''Plastic Letters''. "Presence, Dear" was released in 1978 as the second single from ''Plastic Letters'', reaching number 10 in the UK singles chart in May 1978. It was never released as a single in the US. "X Offender" is the debut single by American band Blondie. Written by Gary Valentine and Debbie Harry for the band's self-titled debut album, '' Blondie'', the song was released as the album's lead single on Private Stock in June 1976. Song information The title of the song was originally "Sex Offender". Bassist Gary Valentine originally wrote the song about an 18-year-old boy being arrested for having sex with his younger girlfriend. Debbie Harry changed the lyrics so that the song was about a prostitute being attracted to the police officer that had arrested her. The track was co-produced by Richard Gottehrer who had worked with 1960s girl group The Angels, and the song is reminiscent of that era in its style. Private Stock insisted that the name of the single be changed to "X Offender" because they were nervous about the original title. It was released in mid-1976 with the B-side being "In the Sun". The Doors
