Greater Kota Kinabalu
Greater Kota Kinabalu refers to the dense clusters of regional populated areas surrounding the city of Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. It comprises the districts of Kota Kinabalu (also the largest city and capital of Sabah), Penampang, Tuaran and Papar. These districts are also part of the West Coast Division. It was forecasted that in 2019, the combined population of these districts was 1.1 million people, in a combined area of 3,277 km2. Definition and coverage The term was initially coined in a policy action document prepared by Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA), a special body tasked to spearhead Sabah Development Corridor. The term is also used in Sabah Structure Plan 2033, a statewide planning policy document that also includes the projected population growth trend in Kota Kinabalu and its immediate areas by year 2033. Menggatal or Manggatal is a Malaysian town and suburb of Kota Kinabalu District on the west coast of Sabah. It is an outskirt of the state capital, Kota Kinabalu, and is under the jurisdiction of Kota Kinabalu City Hall. It is located along Jalan Tuaran, which is the main road leading north from Kota Kinabalu city centre. The town is notable for being one of few towns in Sabah where wooden pre-World War II era shophouses still stand. Inanam is a suburb and sub-district of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia. It is situated 10 kilometres from the city centre. Likas is a sub-district in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Likas is known for where shopping complex, government and private hospital, universities and colleges such as Universiti Malaysia Sabah and government administration centre is located. Likas Sports Complex together with Sabah Women and Child Hospital is also located here. The area also mostly covered by housing estate such as the Likas Village. Likas is also a bustling metropolitan area where new high skyscrapers buildings have recently flourished.
