Great Lakes Fleet
Great Lakes Fleet, Inc. is a shipping firm headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota that operates a fleet of nine self-unloading bulk carriers on the Great Lakes transporting dry bulk cargo such as iron ore, coal and limestone. History Great Lakes Fleet was formed on July 1, 1967, when U.S. Steel consolidated its Great Lakes shipping operations by merging the Pittsburgh Steamship Division and its sister fleet, the Bradley Transportation Company forming the USS Great Lakes Fleet. In 1981, Great Lakes Fleet was spun off into a U.S. Steel-owned subsidiary, Transtar, Inc. Transtar, Inc. is a subsidiary of US Steel. It was organized in 1988 to own US Steel's railroad and other transportation subsidiaries. In the third quarter of 2021 it will be taken over by Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure Investors.

Mississagi (ship)
The ''Mississagi'' was a Type L6-S-B1 lake freighter launched in 1943. Originally she was powered by a triple-expansion steam engine. In 1985 her steam engines were replaced by a diesel engine. She was built to a design from the United States Maritime Commission by the Great Lakes Engineering Works in River Rouge, Michigan. She had fifteen sister ships, also built to the Maritime Commission's design, known colloquially as ''"Maritimers"''. The vessel was originally commissioned as the ''Hill Annex''. When she was acquired by the Pittsburgh Steamship Company in July 1943 she was rechristened the ''George A. Sloan''. She was bought by the Bradley Transportation Company in 1966, which converted her to a self-unloading bulk carrier.
