Great Lakes (band)
Great Lakes is an American rock and roll band formed in Athens, Georgia, United States, in 1996. The band was formed by Ben Crum, James Huggins, & Dan Donahue. Great Lakes were among the second wave of bands included in The Elephant Six Collective. History The debut self titled album ''Great Lakes'' was recorded 1996–1999 on Crum's 1/2" 8-track tape machine in their home studio in Athens, Georgia. It was released in 2000 on Kindercore/Elephant 6. The group consisted of founders Ben Crum, Dan Donahue, & James Higgins III, with a bevvy of supporting players from the Athens/E6 music scene. After relocating to Athens, Ga from Birmingham, Alabama, the trio met like minded musicians in fellow Athens bands like Elf Power, Olivia Tremor Control, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Of Montreal. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists (sometimes written Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Ted Leo + Pharmacists, or TL/Rx) are an American rock band formed in 1999 in Washington, D.C. They have released six full-length studio albums and have toured internationally. Though the group's lineup has fluctuated throughout their career, singer/guitarist Ted Leo has remained the band's main songwriter, creative force, and only constant member. Joe McGinty
Joe McGinty is an American composer, keyboardist and arranger who was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. McGinty is most widely known for his five years as the keyboardist for The Psychedelic Furs (after a brief stint with Robert Hazard in Philadelphia). He is also the founder of the popular Loser's Lounge tribute series. He opened a New York City piano bar, Sid Gold's Request Room, with Beauty Bar owner Paul Devitt. He has an original project with singer Andrea Diaz, "The Duchess And The Fox." Career McGinty got his start playing keyboards with his high school friends in the South Jersey area. In 1983, he was invited to join the showband '"Franco And Mary Jane". Storm & Stress
Storm & Stress (alternately styled as Storm&Stress or Stormandstress) were an American experimental rock band formed in Pittsburgh and later based in Chicago. The band's name is derived from the German literary movement Sturm und Drang. Storm & Stress initially consisted of bassist George Draguns, drummer Kevin Shea and vocalist/guitarist Ian Williams. Eric Emm later replaced Draguns on bass. Storm & Stress released two full-length albums on Touch and Go Records and toured the United States and Europe. Storm & Stress has been inactive since 2000; it is likely that the band broke up as part of the fallout of the November 2000 breakup of Don Caballero, of which Williams and Emm were also members. The Ladybug Transistor is a Brooklyn-based indie pop group associated with The Elephant Six Collective. History Started in 1995 by Gary Olson, Edward Powers and Javier Villegas, The Ladybug Transistor released '' Marlborough Farms'' the same year on Park N' Ride records, adding and subtracting a couple of members and going on an international tour. With Jeff Baron ( Guppyboy, The Essex Green) and Jennifer Baron (Saturnine) added to the line-up, they released ''Beverley Atonale'' in 1997, this time on Merge Records. Powers left the band and the remaining members, with San Fadyl and Sasha Bell of The Essex Green and the solo act Finishing School, embarked on a United States tour. The Clientele
The Clientele is a London-based indie pop band, formed in 1991. The band is currently composed of lead singer/guitarist Alasdair MacLean, drummer Mark Keen and bassist James Hornsey. Since its inception, the Clientele has released eight full-length albums and five EPs. The band have toured extensively in the United States, where they have experienced more success than in their native Britain. They are currently signed to Merge Records, an independent record label based out of North Carolina. History MacLean and Hornsey both grew up in Hampshire, England, and began collaborating musically while still in school, after MacLean saw that Hornsey had written the name of the band Felt on his pencil case. James Husband is the recording project of James Huggins III, Of Montreal's multi-instrumentalist. Biography James Husband is the recording alias for multi-instrumentalist/songwriter James Huggins III. In the group 'of Montreal', Husband recorded and toured as a core member from 1998 to 2010.
