The Great Falls Americans are a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior A ice hockey team from Great Falls, Montana, playing at the Great Falls IcePlex in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The players, ages 16–20, carry amateur status under Junior A guidelines and hope to earn a place on a Canadian major junior, collegiate or minor professional team. History The Americans were founded in 2011 as an expansion team scheduled to be part of the Northern Pacific Hockey League (NorPac) for the 2011–12 season. Instead, the team joined the rest of the eastern NorPac teams in creating the new American West Hockey League (AWHL). Great Falls is the third most populous city in the U.S. state of Montana and the county seat of Cascade County. The population was 60,442 according to the 2020 census. The team plays home games at the Sheridan Ice M&M’s Center in Sheridan, Wyoming. History The team previously played at The River's Edge Ice Arena in Davenport, Iowa, where it was known as the Quad City Express and the Quad City Jr. Flames. The Bozeman Icedogs are a Tier III Junior ice hockey team located in Bozeman, Montana. The team is a member of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The Icedogs play home games at the Haynes Pavilion located at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds. History Founded in 1996 by a Michigan-based investment group, the Icedogs played in the Tier II Junior A American Frontier Hockey League (AFHL) from 1996 to 1998.
