Great Britain National Cerebral Palsy Football Team
Great Britain national cerebral palsy football team is the national cerebral football team for Great Britain that represents the team in international competitions, but primarily the Paralympic Games. They compete at the 1984, 1992, 2008 and 2012 Summer Paralympics. Their best performance was in 1984 when they won the bronze medal. Players There have been a number of players for the British squad. Coaches In 2011 and 2012, the team was coached by Lyndon Lynch. Results Great Britain has participated in a number of international tournaments. At the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester in May 2012, Great Britain met Brazil in the finals after defeating Ireland 7–3 in the semi-final. Great Britain finished third at the 2016 Pre-Paralympic Tournament in Salou, Spain after losing to the Netherlands 3 - 2 in the bronze medal game. CP7 (classification)
CP7 is a disability sport classification specific to cerebral palsy. In many sports, it is grouped inside other classifications to allow people with cerebral palsy to compete against people with other different disabilities but with the same level of functionality. Sportspeople in this class can walk but may appear to have a limp as half their body is affected by cerebral palsy. Sports which are open to this classification include athletics, football, skiing, standing volleyball, and swimming. In athletics, they compete in the T37/F37 class. CP7 alpine skiers compete in LW9/1 and LW9/2 in para-alpine, and in LW9 for para-Nordic skiing. CP7 swimmers are often classified in S7, S8, S9 or S10. Salou () is a municipality of the ''comarca'' of Tarragonès, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. Martin Sinclair (born 27 June 1986) is an English footballer who plays for the England CP team, as well as being a SaintsAbility development officer for Saints Foundation. Sinclair's catchphrase is, "It's about showcasing players ability, rather than their disability". Early life Martin Sinclair was born on 27 June 1986 in Bath, Somerset, Bath, England. He is the brother of Bristol Rovers footballer Scott Sinclair, who represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and Jake Sinclair, a member of the Southampton F.C. Academy, who also played on loan at Hibernian F.C., Hibernian. Sinclair was born with cerebral palsy but still had ambitions of playing football. As a teenager he fell off a slide, resulting in the ball and socket coming out of his hip; the injury was initially diagnosed as a damaged ligament, but when he went to hospital for an operation on his hand an x-ray revealed the real injury.
