Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular
The Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular, or GABS as it is commonly known, is a beer and food festival that celebrates the diversity and creativity of craft beer. It is run by The Local Taphouse beer bars each year in Melbourne and Sydney and in 2015, almost 23,000 people attended the events. The Local Taphouses regularly run beer festivals, or SpecTAPulars, to showcase rare or exclusive beers under a different theme. The original GABS (it was originally called the Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular) was held at both venues in both Sydney and Melbourne on 12 February 2011. Another notable, annual event is the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of the Year countdown. This event was originally held each Australia Day on January 26, but is now held on the fourth Saturday of January. Bentspoke Brewing Co
Bentspoke Brewing Co is a Canberra-based brewing company initially founded as a Brewpub in 2014 by brewers Richard Watkins and Tracy Margrain. Bentspoke now supports both a Brewpub in the central Canberra suburb of Braddon, and a commercial brewing and canning facility in the Canberra light-industrial estate of Mitchell. Bentspoke's commercially available canned beers sport a bike theme (as does the company's name). Bentspoke have historically performed well in the yearly Australian GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of the Year awards, with their Crankshaft IPA taking out the top spot in both 2021 and 2022. Bootleg Brewery
__NOTOC__ The Bootleg Brewery is a microbrewery in Wilyabrup, Western Australia, near Margaret River, and is set on 30 hectares (74 acres) of land beside a lake. It was established by Tom Reynolds as a retirement project in 1994 at a time when just two other pub brewers existed in Western Australia. Today, with an annual production of 125,000 litres (2006), Bootleg produces a range of beers including several award-winning varieties which are sold on the domestic and international markets. Due to the fact Margaret River is more known for wine production, Bootleg Brewery claims to be "an oasis of beer in a desert of wine". Nail Brewing
Nail Brewing is an Australian brewery and the producer of the world's most expensive beer, the ''Antarctic Nail Ale''. History In 1996 John Stallwood registered the company, ''Nail Brewing Australia''. On 23 March 2000 Norman Moore (Minister for Racing, Gaming and Liquor) officially opened Nail Brewing's first microbrewery at ''Bobby Dazzler's Ale House'', (a pub in Murray Street, Perth), releasing ''Nail Ale'', an Australian style Pale Ale. On 9 April 2004 Stallwood was assaulted after intervening in a fight in Fremantle, falling into a coma for ten days, Stallwood's head injuries resulted in a titanium plate being inserted in his skull. Mountain Goat
The mountain goat (''Oreamnos americanus''), also known as the Rocky Mountain goat, is a hoofed mammal endemic to mountainous areas of western North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice. Despite its vernacular name and both genera being in the same subfamily (Caprinae), the mountain goat is not a member of ''Capra'', the genus that includes all other goats, such as the wild goat (''Capra aegagrus''), from which the domestic goat is derived. Moa Brewing is a New Zealand brewery owned by Mallbeca Limited. It was founded in 2003 in Blenheim by Josh Scott and had an initial public offering in 2012. The company became notorious for its advertising campaigns which pitched the beer as “the domain of aspiring, affluent men”. It did not make a profit in any year since 2012, and was subsequently sold to Mallbeca in 2021. Mikkeller is a microbrewery founded in 2006 in Copenhagen, Denmark that was originally based on the so-called "cuckoo", "phantom" or "gypsy" ethos; that is, the company did not operate an official brewery and, instead, collaborated with other brewers to produce their recipes or experimental one-off brews. Matilda Bay Brewing Company
The Matilda Bay Brewing Company was a West Australian brewery. It was the first new brewery opened in Australia since World War II and Australia's first craft brewery. Originating from small batches brewed for the Sail and Anchor Hotel in 1984, their main brewery opened in 1989 in a prominent building on the Stirling Highway occupied by Ford Motor Company. Mash Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Henley Brook, Western Australia, Henley Brook, located within the Swan Valley (Western Australia), Swan Valley region of Western Australia. Little Creatures is a brewery based in Fremantle, Western Australia, operating as a subsidiary of the Japanese firm Kirin Company. Invercargill Brewery
Invercargill Brewery was the southernmost brewer of beer in New Zealand. It was established by Steve Nally in 1999 near Invercargill. Nally, who has a degree in chemistry, is a self-trained brewer who was an early adopter of distinct New Zealand flavours. He made an early commitment to using locally sourced ingredients at Invercargill and was one of the first craft brewers to use Gladfield malt from Dunsandel.
