Grays Harbor Loggers
The Grays Harbor Loggers was the primary name of the minor league baseball team that represented the communities of Grays Harbor, Washington, Hoquiam, Washington and Aberdeen, Washington. Grays Harbor played as members of the Class A Short Season Northwest League from 1976 to 1980. History Owned and managed by the Stockton Ports' former owner and manager Carl W. Thompson, Sr., the team had a record of 26-46, at that time the worst in the league. Season attendance at Hoquiam's Olympic Stadium was fourth in the seven-team Northwest League at 28,842. The Ports' All-Star pitcher Barry Biggerstaff (9-7, 3.44) led the league in almost every counting category with 17 starts, 15 complete games, 3 shutouts (having tied for the lead), 144 innings, 138 hits, 77 runs, 55 earned runs and 123 strikeouts. Short Season
Class A Short Season (officially Short-Season A) was a level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States from 1965 through 2020. In the hierarchy of minor league classifications, it was below Triple-A, Double-A, Class A-Advanced (created in 1990), and Class A. Teams in Class A Short Season played about 75 to 80 games per season, compared to the 130- to 140-game seasons of most professional baseball minor leagues. As part of the 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues, Class A Short Season was eliminated along with its two leagues, the New York–Penn League and Northwest League. Luis Quiñones (baseball)
Luis Raúl Quiñones Torruellas (born April 28, 1962, in Ponce, Puerto Rico) is a former utility infielder in Major League Baseball and current hitting coach for the Batavia Muckdogs, Short-Season Single-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. From 1983 through 1992, Quiñones played for the Oakland Athletics (1983), San Francisco Giants (1986), Chicago Cubs (1987), Cincinnati Reds (1988–91) and Minnesota Twins (1992). He was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. He received National League Player of the Week honors for the week beginning September 3, 1989. Luis was a member of the Cincinnati Reds 1990 World Series Championship team. He drove in what would be the winning run in Game 6 of the 1990 NLCS, a 2–1 Reds victory and the National League pennant. Mark Parent (born August 25, 1954) is a Canadian clergyman, author, academic, and former politician in Nova Scotia. Parent is the son of Baptist missionaries Hazen Coles Parent and Hazel Mildred Anderson. Parent was raised in Bolivia, South America before returning to Canada for post secondary studies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University, a Master of Divinity from Acadia Divinity College, and a Doctor of Philosophy from McGill University. Parent is married to his second wife Margie Jenkins and together they have five grown children. His first wife, Cathy, died in 1998. Parent served in various churches in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia before returning home in 1994 to serve as pastor of the Pereaux United Baptist Church. Thomas Michael Jones (October 13, 1954 – January 15, 2009) was an American professional baseball player who later served as a coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2004.
