Graydon Henning
Graydon Henning is an economic historian from the University of New England in New South Wales, Australia. He is a specialist in Australian economic history with a particular interest in maritime transport, business, and mining history, 1870–1914, and in the lumber trade of the Pacific Northwest, 1890 - 1914. Early life and education Henning received a BEc. BA from the University of Adelaide and a Master of Arts degree from The University of Melbourne. Academic career Henning taught economic history at the University of New England for thirty years before being named an honorary fellow. During this time he worked as the editor of the Australian Association for Maritime History's journal ''The Great Circle'' from 1989 to 1998, and was both a founding member and an honorary life member of the association. Australian Association For Maritime History
The Australian Association for Maritime History (AAMH) is an Australian maritime history organisation. It publishes a journal, a newsletter and organises conferences. History The association was formed in May 1978. Its main aim is to promote the study, publication, and general appreciation of maritime history. The eminent American maritime historian John B. Hattendorf considers the AAMH one of the most prominent scholarly organisations in the English-speaking world and the late Professor Frank Broeze of the University of Western Australia considered that the creation of the AAMH contributed to a rising awareness of the significance of the role of the sea to Australian cultural history. The International Commission for Maritime History (ICMH) was established in 1960 to promote international cooperation and the exchange of ideas in the field of maritime history. It is affiliated with the International Committee of Historical Sciences. History Founded as the Commission Internationale d’Histoire Maritime, (or CIHM), it was first organized at Lisbon, Portugal, on 14 September 1960. The ''International Journal of Maritime History'' is a peer-reviewed academic journal that covers all aspects of maritime history. The European Science Foundation's European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) ranks it as a "Class One" journal. The journal is abstracted and indexed in Scopus and Historical Abstracts.
