Gravesend Cricket Club
Gravesend Cricket Club is a cricket club which currently plays in Division 1 of the Kent Cricket League. The club was formed in 1881 when the Harkaway and Clarence Cricket Clubs were amalgamated to form the Gravesend Cricket Club. The club continues to play at the Bat and Ball Ground which has itself been around for over 150 years (since 1848). First Class Cricket was played at "The Bat" (as it is affectionately known) by Kent County Cricket Club and its Second XI. The highest ever score on the ground came from W.G.Grace with 257 for Gloucestershire in 1895, and the most wickets in a match coming from Tich Freeman for Kent in 1931. The club currently has four running league teams, as well as a 5th XI which play friendly matches. Also, the club operates an exciting youth section with teams ranging from U10 to U19. Yannick Elliott
Yannick Ricardo Elliott (born 15 June 1986) is a Jamaican cricketer. Elliott is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born in Kingston, Surrey County. Elliott made his debut for Jamaica in a List A match against Barbados in November 2008. He played a further List A match, coming later in November 2008 against Trinidad and Tobago. In his first match against Barbados, he scored 7 runs before being run out by Kenroy Williams. With the ball he bowled 10 wicket-less overs, although conceding just 17 runs. In his second match against Trinidad and Tobago, he scored 6 runs before being dismissed by Kieron Pollard. Graham Gooch
Graham Alan Gooch, (born 23 July 1953) is a former English first-class cricketer who captained Essex and England. He was one of the most successful international batsmen of his generation, and through a career spanning from 1973 until 2000, he became the most prolific run scorer of all time, with 67,057 runs across first-class and limited-overs games. His List A cricket tally of 22,211 runs is also a record. He is one of only twenty-five players to have scored over 100 first-class centuries. Internationally, despite being banned for three years following a rebel tour to ostracized South Africa, Gooch is the third highest Test run scorer for England. Matthew Walker (English Cricketer)
Matthew Jonathan Walker (born 2 January 1974), known as Matt Walker, is a retired English professional cricketer who is currently the head coach of Kent County Cricket Club. Walker was appointed as head coach in January 2017 having been assistant coach at the county since the 2014 season. He played for Kent for 16 seasons until 2008 and then for three seasons for Essex until he retired in 2011. Early career Walker was born in Gravesend and, after enjoying a prolific school cricket record at The King's School, Rochester, made his first appearance for Kent in a Second XI match against Lancashire in 1990. He continued to play in the Second XI for two seasons, after which he was called up to the England under-19 squad for their tour of Pakistan. Essex County Cricket Club
Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. Founded in 1876, the club had minor county status until 1894 when it was promoted to first-class status pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895, since then the team has played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. Essex currently play all their home games at the County Cricket Ground, Chelmsford. The Jamaica national cricket team or officially the Jamaica Scorpions, is the representative first-class cricket team representing Jamaica at the West Indies domestic competitions. History The team's history goes back to 1895, when they played three matches against a touring side from England led by Slade Lucas, but because of the distance to the other cricketing countries, Jamaica did not play regular first-class cricket until 1964. They played in the inaugural Shell Shield first-class competition, winning it on the fourth attempt, but then had to wait until 1977–78 for their next title – which was a shared one-day title with Leeward Islands.
