Gravel (comics)
''Gravel'' is the name given to a series of limited and ongoing series by Warren Ellis, illustrated by Mike Wolfer and published by Avatar Press. A number of different limited series have been published under the ''Strange Killings'' banner, all of which centred on British 'combat magician' William Gravel. Most recently these series were republished under the Gravel name, followed by the launch of a new series, ''Gravel''. Publication history Gravel initially appeared in the ''Strange Kiss'' limited series, which was followed by a sequel, ''Stranger Kisses''. The third series was titled ''Strange Killings'', which remained the name for the subsequent limited series, until the latest ongoing series called ''Gravel''. With ''Gravel'', Wolfer became the co-author with Raulo Cáceres joining as the first of what has been described as a "revolving team" of artists. Mike Wolfer
Mike Wolfer was a comic book writer and artist. He attended The Kubert School for two years. He started his career in 1987 by forming his own publishing company, Ground Zero Comics, and self-published "Daikazu" (8 issues) and "Daikazu Vs. Gugoron" (3 issues). In 1992, Wolfer began publishing "Widow," an erotic horror title that ran a total of 14 issues, through various mini-series: "Widow: Flesh And Blood," "Widow: Kill Me Again," "Widow: Metal Gypsies" and "Widow: Bound By Blood." Simultaneously, Wolfer began freelancing with other companies such as Dark Horse Comics ("Dark Horse Presents," "Godzilla"), London Night Studios ("Razor"), Chaos! Comics ("Lady Death Swimsuit/Lingerie"), Re-Visionary Press' Carnal Comics, and others. The New York Comic Con is an annual New York City fan convention dedicated to Western comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, cosplay, toys, movies, and television. It was first held in 2006. Comics Bulletin was a daily website covering the American comic-book industry. History Silver Bullet Comicbooks The site was founded in January 2000 as Silver Bullet Comicbooks by its New Zealand-based publisher/editor Jason Brice. During this period, the site made efforts to support retired comics professionals. In a Silver Bullet column called ''Past Masters'', contributor Clifford Meth wrote about his efforts to support ailing comic book artist Dave Cockrum.
