Grapevine is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California, at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. The small village is directly adjacent to Interstate 5 and consists mainly of travelers' and roadside services. At an elevation of , the community is located at the foot of a grade known as the Grapevine that lies in Grapevine Canyon through the Tejon Pass. Etymology The village and grade are named for the canyon the trail passed through, after the wild grapes that grow along the original road. Its Spanish name is ''La Cañada de las Uvas'', that is, ''Grapevine Ravine.'' Geography The ZIP Code is 93243, and the community is inside area code 661. Grapevine Canyon (Nevada)
Grapevine Canyon is located in the Bridge Canyon Wilderness Area and the Spirit Mountain Wilderness within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The canyon contains the Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs and is accessible from Nevada State Route 163 which leads to Lower Grapevine Canyon Road. During non-drought years, the canyon contains a fresh water spring. The spring provides water for shrubbery along its path. While it was used by the Mohave people, the canyon may have served as a ritual location and for summer solstice observations. The Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs are located in Grapevine Canyon on Spirit Mountain near Laughlin, Nevada, and are listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. San Felipe Creek (Salton Sea)
San Felipe Creek is a stream in Imperial and San Diego Counties of California. It arises in the Volcan Mountains of San Diego County , and runs eastward, gathering the waters of most of the eastern slope of the mountains and desert of the county before it empties into the Salton Sea. It is probably the last remaining perennial natural desert stream in the Colorado Desert region.
