Granville Hinton
Isom Granville Hinton (February 10, 1929 – April 27, 1996) was an insurance agent from Savannah, Tennessee who served as a Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives from various districts including Hardin and McNairy counties from 1967 to 1972. He later served as Tennessee state Commissioner of Conservation under Governor Winfield Dunn, and was the Legislative Liaison (lobbyist) for Governor Lamar Alexander from 1978 to 1986. Political career Hinton was elected to the House from the 31st Floterial District in 1966 at the age of 37, and served three terms. During his last term in office, he served as assistant minority floor leader. He was succeeded by fellow Republican (and insurance agent) Ray Bodiford. Subsequently, he was appointed Commissioner of Conservation by Governor Winfield Dunn, serving from 1973 to 1975. Savannah is a city in and the county seat of Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 7,213 at the 2020 census. Savannah is located along the east side of the Tennessee River. Savannah hosted the NAIA college football national championship game from 1996 to 2007, and is home to several places of historical significance, including the Cherry Family Mansion. Ray Bodiford
Johnny Ray Bodiford (June 14, 1936 - July 12, 1989) was an American insurance agent from Selmer, Tennessee who served as a Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives from the 70th district ( Hardin and McNairy counties and parts of Wayne, Chester and Hardeman counties) from 1973 to 1976. He succeeded fellow Republican (and insurance agent) Granville Hinton, and was succeeded by Republican Herman L. Wolfe, Sr. He was a member of the Tennessee 1977 Limited Constitutional Convention. In 1980, he ran what was described as a "strong campaign" against longtime incumbent state senator and Lieutenant Governor John S. Wilder, but was unable to defeat him.
