Leon Brown (baseball)
Leon Brown (born November 16, 1949, in Sacramento, California) is a former outfielder in Major League Baseball. He is the brother of Curtis Brown. Leon Brown was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1966 amateur draft out of Grant Union High School in Sacramento, California. He then went on to spend thirteen years in professional baseball, mostly in the minor leagues. Brown had 74 plate appearances in 64 games as a New York Met in 1976, recording a .214 batting average as an outfielder. He was traded with Brock Pemberton from the Mets to the St. Louis Cardinals for minor-league first baseman Ed Kurpiel on December 9, 1976. Viliami Moala
Viliami Alfred Moala ( ; born March 30, 1993) is a former American football defensive tackle of Tongan descent. He played college football at California. Moala attended Grant Union High School in Del Paso Heights, Sacramento, California, where he was a consensus All-American defensive lineman. High school career Before high school, Moala did not compete in football. In fact, he was competing in rugby, national sport in his native Tonga. He did, however, attend football games of Grant Union High School, where his older brother Sione was playing. Club Nouveau is an American R&B group formed by record producer/performer Jay King in 1986 in Sacramento, California, following the breakup of the Timex Social Club. The group's name ( French for "New Club") was changed from its original incarnation, "Jet Set", to capitalize on the breakup. The group was signed by Warner Bros. Records, on which Club Nouveau released its first three albums. Club Nouveau's go-go version of Bill Withers's song " Lean on Me" won a Grammy award for Best R&B Song in 1987. George Wright (organist)
George Wright (August 28, 1920 in Orland, California – May 10, 1998 in Glendale, California) was an American musician, possibly the most famous virtuoso of the theatre organ of the modern era. Wright was best known for his virtuoso performances on the huge Wurlitzer theater pipe organs at the famed Fox Theater on Market Street in San Francisco and the ornate Paramount Theaters in both New York City and Oakland. In the early1940s he was an active performer on radio, first on the west coast; in 1944 he was transferred to New York City by NBC, and played numerous radio shows from 1944-1951. In 1948 he was hired as solo organist at the Paramount Theatre in Times Square. He left New York in 1951. Worrell Williams (born March 6, 1986) is a former American football linebacker. He was signed by the Redwoods as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at California. He was also a member of the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos. Christian Philip Tupou (born May 7, 1989) is an American football defensive end. He was undrafted but signed with the Chicago Bears in 2012. He played college football at USC. High school career Tupou played defensive end and fullback at Grant High School in Sacramento, California. He had 82 tackles and 5 sacks in 2006 as Grant went 13-0. Walt Torrence
Walter Alexander Torrence (July 31, 1937 – September 20, 1969) was an American basketball player. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He earned all-conference honors in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) as a junior, and was named an All-American as a senior in 1959. After college, Torrence joined the United States Army. He was one of five Army members on the US national basketball team which won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1963. Syd'Quan Thompson (born February 7, 1987) is a former American football cornerback. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 225th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.
