Grant S. Green Jr.
Grant Sherle Green Jr. (born June 16, 1938) is a former United States soldier who has held offices in the United States Department of Defense and the United States Department of State. Biography Green was born in Seattle on June 16, 1938. He graduated from Fort Smith Senior High School in Arkansas in 1956. Green then attended the University of Arkansas, receiving a B.A. in political science in 1960. After college, Green joined the United States Army and served at various times with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 25th Infantry Division, and the 2nd Infantry Division, where he commanded the 2nd Airborne Battalion. During the Vietnam War, he served with the 1st Cavalry Division and the 101st Airborne Division, where he commanded an assault helicopter unit. Green went on to serve for four years on the Army's General Staff at the Pentagon, and then an additional four years on the staff of the United States Secretary of Defense and the United States Deputy Secretary of Defense. ...

2nd Infantry Division (United States)
The 2nd Infantry Division (2ID, 2nd ID) ("Indianhead") is a formation of the United States Army. Its current primary mission is the pre-emptive defense of South Korea in the event of an invasion from North Korea. There are approximately 17,000 soldiers in the 2nd Infantry Division, with 10,000 of them stationed in South Korea, accounting for about 35% of the United States Forces Korea personnel. The 2nd Infantry Division is unique in that it is the only U.S. Army division that is made up partially of South Korean soldiers, called KATUSAs (Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army). The 25th Infantry Division (nicknamed "Tropic Lightning") is a United States Army division based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. The division, which was activated on 1 October 1941 in Hawaii, conducts military operations primarily in the Asia-Pacific region.
