Granite Lake (Kawdy Plateau)
Granite Lake is a lake on the Kawdy Plateau of the British Columbia Interior, Northern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is located northwest of the junction of the Nahlin River, Nahlin and Tuya River, Tuya rivers in Cassiar Land District. A roughly equidimensional (geology), equidimensional granodiorite pluton outcrops adjacent to Granite Lake. This intrusion, called the Granite Lake Pluton, is of Middle Jurassic, Middle to Late Jurassic age and is about in area. Granite Lake is one of three lakes most commonly used to gain access to the Level Mountain shield volcano by float plane, the other two being Hatin Lake and Ketchum Lake. Hatin Lake
Hatin Lake is a small low-lying lake on the Nahlin Plateau in Cassiar Land District of the Northern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is an expansion of the Koshin River, which flows north from nearby Level Mountain into the Nahlin River. The Callison Ranch lies on the eastern side of Hatin Lake. Shield Volcano
A shield volcano is a type of volcano named for its low profile, resembling a warrior's shield lying on the ground. It is formed by the eruption of highly fluid (low viscosity) lava, which travels farther and forms thinner flows than the more viscous lava erupted from a stratovolcano. Repeated eruptions result in the steady accumulation of broad sheets of lava, building up the shield volcano's distinctive form. Shield volcanoes are found wherever fluid low-silica lava reaches the surface of a rocky planet. Level Mountain
Level Mountain is a large volcanic complex in the Northern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is located north-northwest of Telegraph Creek and west of Dease Lake on the Nahlin Plateau. With a maximum elevation of , it is the second-highest of four large complexes in an extensive north–south trending volcanic region. Much of the mountain is gently-sloping; when measured from its base, Level Mountain is about tall, slightly taller than its neighbour to the northwest, Heart Peaks. The lower, broader half of Level Mountain consists of a shield-like structure while its upper half has a more steep, jagged profile.
