Grangetown (Welsh: usually ''Grangetown'', also Trelluest) is a district and community in the south of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is one of the largest districts in the south of the city and is bordered by Riverside, Canton and Butetown. The River Taff winds its way through the area. Adjacent to the city's Cardiff Bay area, Grangetown is experiencing a period of gentrification and improvements in its infrastructure. Its population as of 2011 was 19,385 in 8,261 households. One of the "five towns of Cardiff", the others are Butetown, Crockherbtown, Newtown and Temperance Town. Grangetown is a diverse and multiracial district and has a significant population of Somali, Asian and mixed-race residents. It is home to a Swaminarayan Temple and various mosques. Grangetown is an electoral ward in the city of Cardiff, Wales. It covers its namesake community of Grangetown. The ward was originally created in 1890 as a ward to Cardiff County Borough Council. Description The Grangetown ward lies to the south of the city between the rivers Taff and Ely. The ward elects four councillors to Cardiff Council. Grangetown, North Yorkshire
Grangetown is an area in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. The area is east of Middlesbrough and from south-west of Redcar. A ward covering the area had a population of 5,088 at the 2011 census. It is part of Greater Eston, which includes the area and the other centres of Eston, Normanby, South Bank, Teesville and part of Ormesby. History The development of Grangetown was the discovery of ironstone in the Eston Hills in 1840, and the further development of the iron and steel industry along the riverbanks by Messrs. Bolckow and Vaughan from 1881. The name of the village was taken from a farm nearby called ''Eston Grange'', formerly a working farm for the monks of Guisborough Priory. By 1914, it was community of around 5,500 people with most houses lying between Bolckow Road and the steel works.
