Grange Hockey Club
Grange Hockey Club is one of four sections of The Grange Club situated at Portgower Place in Edinburgh. The three other sports that can be enjoyed through the parent club are Cricket, Squash and Tennis. Grange Hockey Club, originally Edinburgh Northern Hockey Club, was formed in April 1905 and was one of the early hockey clubs in Scotland. The club first started playing at Raeburn Place in 1928 and changed its name to Grange Hockey Club in 1972. With 8 men's teams, 4 ladies teams, veterans and active youth section the Grange Hockey Club is one of the largest in Scotland. The Grange Hockey Club recently celebrated its centenary year, celebrating the 100th year of hockey being played under the Grange name since Edinburgh Northern Hockey Club amalgamated with Grange cricket club to form the modern hockey section of the club. The Grange Club
The Grange Club is a cricket and sports club in the Stockbridge district of Edinburgh, Scotland. The cricket ground, commonly known as The Grange, is the regular home of the Scotland national cricket team, and is situated adjacent to the Edinburgh Academy sports ground, which is in Raeburn Place. History The Grange Club was founded in 1832, in The Grange district of Edinburgh. In 1872 it moved to its current location at Raeburn Place in the Stockbridge district and has hosted out of its pavilion since 1894. The pavilion cost £1,400 and was officially opened on 29 June 1895 by Lord Moncrieff. The pavilion was restored in 1998 at a cost of £450,000. After the Scottish Cricket Union disbanded in 1884 The Grange Club assumed responsibility as the governing body of cricket in Scotland for a time and still holds considerable national influence. Scotland Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Scotland men's national field hockey team represents Scotland in men's international field hockey competitions, with the exception of the Olympic Games when Scottish players are eligible to play for the Great Britain men's national field hockey team. Robert Barr (born 1978) is a Scottish field hockey player who played for the Scotland men's national field hockey team. He plays his club hockey for Grange Hockey Club in Edinburgh. Barr has also represented Scottish Universities and Edinburgh University Hockey Club. Barr has been captain of Grange for several seasons. Barr has represented Scotland in South Africa, Italy, Pakistan, Russia and Switzerland. During the 2009 season he was selected to represent the Highland Jaguars in the Great Britain Super League. Donny Hay (born 1959) is a former Scottish field hockey player who played for the Scotland men's national field hockey team gaining 51 caps as a striker during the 1980s. Hay also played for the Scotland indoor hockey team. He played club hockey for Plexus Mercian and Grange. Hay played in Scotland's first ever outdoor victory against Spain in 1983. Michael Watt (field Hockey)
Michael Watt (born 13 April 1987) is a former Ireland men's field hockey international. Between 2006 and 2016 Watt made 201 appearances and scored 54 goals for Ireland. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At club level, Watt has won the Irish Senior Cup with Instonians, the Scottish Hockey Cup with Grange and the Men's Irish Hockey League with Lisnagarvey.
