The Grande Prémio Internacional de Rio Maior em Marcha Atlética (''Rio Maior International Race Walking Grand Prix'') is an annual racewalking competition that takes place in April in Rio Maior in Portugal. It is an elite level event which features a men's and a women's race in the 20 kilometres race walk. Rio Maior () is a municipality in the Santarém District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 21,192, in an area of 272.76 km². Sari Essayah
Sari Miriam Essayah (born 21 February 1967 in Haukivuori) is a Finland, Finnish retired race walking, racewalker and a politician, former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and Member of Parliament since 2015. She is the president of the Finnish Christian Democrats (Finland), Christian Democrats party. Her father is from Morocco. During her sports career, Essayah competed mainly in 5 000 and 10 000 metres. In the latter, she won the 1993 World Championships in Athletics, World Championship in 1993 and the 1994 European Athletics Championships, European Championship in 1994. She made seven national records, all of which are still standing. In 2016, Essayah became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and she has been a member of the Ethics Committee, Finnish Athletics Association since 2014. João Paulo Garcia Vieira (born 20 February 1976) is a Portuguese racewalker. He placed tenth for Portugal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the 20 km walk and third at the 2006 European Championships. Claus Jørgensen (born 15 March 1974 in Randers, Midtjylland) is a retired male race walker from Denmark, who was affiliated with MK Nørrevang during his career. His personal best time of 1:22:18 in the 20 kilometres road walk is the Danish record for the event. He made his first and only Olympic appearance at the 1996 Summer Olympics, where he was 29th in the men's 20 km walk.
