Grand Trunk Pacific Dock
The Grand Trunk Pacific dock was a shipping pier in Seattle, Washington. The original pier was built in 1910 and was destroyed in a fire in 1914. The pier was then rebuilt and continued in existence until 1964, when it was dismantled. The area where the pier stood is now part of the Seattle terminal of the Washington State Ferry system. David Glasgow Farragut (; also spelled Glascoe; July 5, 1801 – August 14, 1870) was a flag officer of the United States Navy during the American Civil War. He was the first rear admiral, vice admiral, and admiral in the United States Navy. Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is a store founded in 1899, on the Central Waterfront of Seattle, Washington, United States. It is currently located on Pier 54. Best known today as a souvenir shop, it also has aspects of a dime museum, and was for many years an important supplier of Northwest Coast art to museums. As of 2008, the store has been owned by four generations of the same family. In 1933, the ''Seattle Star'' named Ye Olde Curiosity Shop one of the "Seven Wonders of Seattle", the only shop on the list. Snoqualmie (fireboat)
The ''Snoqualmie'' was Seattle's first fireboat. She was the first fireboat on North America's west coast. She was launched in 1891, as a long, wooden-hulled, steam-powered vessel. She was taken out of service, and rebuilt when Seattle completed its second fireboat, the ''Duwamish'', in 1909. Her coal-fueled boilers were replaced with oil-fueled ones. The retrofit included altering her profile. She had a new superstructure, and the replacement of her boiler meant replacing her original single smokestack with a pair of smokestacks. Built by Pacific Coast Engineering. She was replaced, in front line service, by the more powerful, gasoline powered ''Alki'' in 1927. ''Snoqualmie'' was demoted to patrolling Lake Union. ''Duwamish'' is a retired fireboat in the United States. She is the second oldest vessel designed to fight fires in the US, after '' Edward M. Cotter'', in Buffalo, New York. Career ''Duwamish'' was built in 1909 for the Seattle Fire Department in Richmond Beach, Washington, just north of Seattle.
