Grand Prize Of The Danish Academy
The Grand Prize of the Danish Academy, founded in 1961, is the most notable of Denmark's literature prizes and awards. It is awarded by the Danish Academy. Until 1982, it was handed yearly, but since then it has been given every second year. The first years the prize was 50.000 DKK. In 1982 the Cultural Ministry of Denmark increased the prize to 100.000 DKK. From 1992 to 1997 it was 200.000 DKK, in 1998 it was 250.000 DKK and since 2000 it has been 300.000 DKK. The prize is a recognition of a writers work as a whole and not only for one book. Sven Holm
Sven Holm (13 April 1940 – 11 May 2019) was a Danish author and playwright. Holm graduated from Herlufsholm School in 1958. His first short story collection, ''Den store fjende'', was published in 1961. In 1974, Holm was awarded the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy. He was awarded the Holberg Medal in 1991. In 2001, Holm was made a member of the Danish Academy. Peter Laugesen
Peter Laugesen (born 5 March 1942 in Copenhagen) is a Danish poet and playwright and was member of the Situationist International. Peter Laugesen lives in Aarhus and he graduated from Aarhus Cathedral School in 1961 and trained as a typographer. He became a member of the Situationist International in 1962. He was attracted by the writing of Ivan Chtcheglov and contacted Jeppesen Victor Martin and participated in a Situationist exhibition in Denmark. He was then invited to France where he met Guy Debord and Michèle Bernstein and was attracted to the dérive as a poetic practice. Halfdan Rasmussen
Halfdan Wedel Rasmussen (29 January 1915 in Copenhagen – 2 March 2002) was a Danish poet. He was known for his literary nonsense verse for children and his serious adult writings about social issues and human rights. He was awarded with the Ministry of Culture's children book prize (Kulturministeriets Børnebogspris) in 1965. Career Rasmussen was a resistance fighter during the German occupation. He became very well known and respected as a poet, nearly becoming a national poet of Denmark. One of his poems, ''Ikke Bødlen'', was featured as one of the best poems on Human Rights on a 1979 book published by Amnesty International Denmark, and would be later translated into the first verse of Roger Waters' song ''Each Small Candle''. Per Højholt
Per Højholt (22 July 1928 – 15 October 2004) was a Denmark, Danish poet. Højholt had his debut in 1948 when he published "De nøgne" (The Naked Ones), a series of poems which appeared in the magazine ''Heretica''. His first collection was ''Hesten og solen'', featuring religiously inspired poems. A major work came with ''Poetens hoved'' (The Head of the Poet) which appeared in 1963. This collection took a Modernist stance and meant a break with late Symbolism (arts), Symbolism. Although a highly experimental and unorthodox writer, he became a popular poet. This is not least due to ''Gittes monologer'' (Gitte's Monologues). He toured the country with his recitals of these monologues which received considerable attention. Højholt was awarded "Den store pris" from the Danish Academy in 1982 and the Holberg Medal in 1997. Henrik Nordbrandt (21 March 1945 – 31 January 2023) was a Danish poet, novelist, and essayist. He made his literary debut in 1966 with the poetry collection ''Digte''. He was awarded the Nordic Council's Literature Prize in 2000 for the poetry collection '' Drømmebroer'' ("Dream Bridges"). Although a Danish writer, he spent much of his life in the Mediterranean basin and this is said to have had an influence on his writing. Poul Vad
Poul Vad (1927–2003) was a Danish writer and art historian who also worked as a consultant at Holstebro Art Museum. He wrote novels, monographs and critical essays on artistic subjects, and started his literary career as a poet in ''Heretica''. Biography Vad was born in Silkeborg on 27 April 1927. He studied art history at the University of Copenhagen and received a master's degree in the same subject in 1958. Tage Skou-Hansen
Tage Skou-Hansen (12 February 1925 – 11 November 2015) was a Danish writer, editor and scholar. Overview Born in the town of Fredericia, Tage Skou-Hansen graduated from Marselisborg Gymnasium in Aarhus and became a student of history of literature at Aarhus University. As a student, he worked as an editor of two literary magazines, one of which was '' Heretica'', before the publication of his first novel, ''De Nøgne Træer'' (The Bare Trees), in 1957. After receiving his degree, Tage taught literature at Askov Højskole for nine years, before concentrating on writing from 1967. Apart from his novels, Tage Skou-Hansen's works also includes two plays and a realized film manuscript. He has received many prizes and scholarships throughout his career.
