Ilha Grande
Ilha Grande ( "Big Island") is an island located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The island, which is part of the municipality of Angra dos Reis, remains largely undeveloped. For almost a century it was closed by the Brazilian government to free movement or settlement because it first housed a leper colony and later a top-security prison (''Colônia Penal de Dois Rios'', later known as ''Instituto Penal Cândido Mendes''). The Cândido Mendes prison, which housed some of the most dangerous prisoners within the Brazilian penal system, was finally closed in 1994. The largest village on the island is called Vila do Abraão with approximately 1900 inhabitants. The island, which is in area, is now a popular tourist destination that is noted for its scenic beauty, unspoiled tropical beaches, luxuriant vegetation and rugged landscape. Grand Island (band)
Grand Island is a Norwegian band. The band was formed in Oslo in 2004, with members from Moss, Sørumsand, and Oslo. They released their first album ''Say No To Sin'' in 2006. The band themselves refer to their music as 'southern indie'. 'Say No To Sin' was well received in Norway and appeared on many lists of the best albums in 2006. Grand Island released their second album ''Boys and Brutes'' in Spring 2008. The album was nominated for a Spellemann award for best rock-album. Vocalist and guitarist Espen Gustavsen also plays in the band "Johnny Cane Band" with Terje Krumins of fellow Norwegian band Superfamily. Isla Grande
Isla Grande is a small island and corregimiento in Portobelo District, Colón Province, Panama, off the Caribbean coast. It had a population of 1,037 . Its population as of 1990 was 626; its population as of 2000 was 1,055. During the right times of year, the water between the island and the mainland provides an excellent surfing environment. Most of the people found in the town are of African descent and trace it back to black African slaves and those known as Cimarrones. Balsam Lake is a lake in the City of Kawartha Lakes in Central Ontario, Canada. It is in the Great Lakes Basin, is one of the lakes of the Kawartha Lakes, and is at the summit of the Trent–Severn Waterway. Geography Balsam Lake is long and averages wide, though its actual width varies due to the many large bays that carve its shoreline; the total area is and the watershed area is . The primary inflows are the Gull River at the north and the Staples River at the southwest. The Grand Island National Recreation Area is a national recreation area in Hiawatha National Forest under jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service. Grand Island Township is a civil township of Alger County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Located along the shores of Lake Superior, the township includes Grand Island, which is designated as the Grand Island National Recreation Area. Oyster Harbors is a gated community within the village of Osterville, Massachusetts.
