Grand Canal Dock railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Dug na Canálach Móire) serves the Grand Canal Dock area in Dublin, Ireland. Description Like several stations in central Dublin, it is elevated above street level, with steps leading down to Barrow Street in South Lotts, beside Google's European headquarters. The ticket office is open between 06:00-00:00, Monday to Sunday. The station has three platforms. Platform 1 is a former terminal platform, which became the Northbound main line on 18 July 2016. Platform 2 is the terminal platform for South Western Commuter trains to Newbridge. Platform 3 is the Southbound main line platform. Platforms 1 and 2 are accessed by a footbridge and platform 3 has level access. Newbridge, County Kildare
Newbridge, officially known by its Irish name Droichead Nua (), is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. While the nearby Great Connell Priory was founded in the 13th century, the town itself formed from the 18th century onwards, and grew rapidly alongside a military barracks which opened in the early 19th century. Taking on the name Newbridge (''An Droichead Nua'') in the 20th century, the town expanded to support the local catchment, and also as a commuter town for Dublin. Doubling in population during the 20 years between 1991 and 2011, its population of 22,742 in 2016 makes it the largest town in Kildare and the fifteenth-largest in Ireland. The Dublin Area Rapid Transit system (stylised as DART) is an electrified commuter rail railway network serving the coastline and city of Dublin, Ireland. The service makes up the core of Dublin's suburban railway network, stretching from Greystones, County Wicklow, in the south to Howth and Malahide in north County Dublin. The DART serves 31 stations and consists of 53 route kilometres of electrified railway (46 km double track, 7 km single), and carries in the region of 20 million passengers per year. The DART system was established by Córas Iompair Éireann in 1984 to replace an ageing fleet of diesel-powered locomotives. Lansdowne Road railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Bhóthar Lansdúin) is a railway station in Dublin, Ireland. The station serves the Ballsbridge and Upper Baggot Street areas of Dublin 4. Facilities and services The station has two through platforms, 1 and 2, connected via a subway. Both have separate entrances as there is a level crossing adjacent to the station on Lansdowne Road. There are automated ticket vending machines at both entrances. When there is an event at the stadium, additional entrances are opened to allow for crowd control. Commuter ( ga, Comaitéir) is a brand of suburban rail services operated by Iarnród Éireann in the Republic of Ireland, serving the cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. This brand is distinct from the longer distance InterCity brand, and Dublin's higher frequency DART brand. Most Commuter services share a track with InterCity services. During the first decade of the new millennium, Iarnród Éireann put a significant amount of effort into upgrading its network, with new tracks, signalling, station upgrades and trains. Docklands Station (''Stáisiún Dugthailte'') is a terminus railway station serving the Dublin Docklands area in Ireland. It is owned and operated by Iarnród Éireann and planned as part of the Government Transport 21 initiative. The island platform station is one of three termini for the ''Western Commuter'' service run by Iarnród Éireann. The others being Dublin Connolly and Dublin Pearse. Services Services run to M3 Parkway during peak times Monday to Friday only. The station is closed Saturday and Sunday. Passengers need to change at Clonsilla for connection with the Maynooth service. Transport links The Luas Red Line does not directly connect with Docklands Station. Instead, commuters have to walk approximately via an indirect route to Spencer Dock Luas stop or to Mayor Square - NCI Luas stop.
