Granatspitze Group
The Granatspitze Group (german: Granatspitzgruppe), sometimes also the Granatspitz Group, is a sub-group of the Austrian Central Alps, Central Alps within the Eastern Alps. Together with the Ankogel Group, the Goldberg Group, the Glockner Group, the Schober Group, the Kreuzeck Group, the Venediger Group, the Villgraten Mountains and the Rieserferner Group, the Granatspitze Group forms the main range known as the Hohe Tauern, High Tauern. The Granatspitze Group is located in Austria in the federal states of Salzburg (Bundesland), Salzburg and Tirol (Bundesland), Tyrol. Its highest summit is the Großer Muntanitz, The Granatspitze Group is located in the central part of the High Tauern. The Felbertauernstraße road is the boundary of the group in the west. The group is rather overshadowed by its more famous neighbours which include the Großglockner and the Großvenediger. Großer Muntanitz
The Großer Muntanitz (3,232m) is the highest mountain in the Granatspitze Group, located between the Venediger Group and the Glockner Group in the High Tauern, Austria. The mountain is close to Matrei in Osttirol and Kals am Großglockner in Tyrol (state), Tyrol, and climbs usually start from either village. Großglockner
The Grossglockner (german: Großglockner ; or just ''Glockner'') is, at 3,798 metres above the Adriatic (12,461 ft), the highest mountain in Austria and the highest mountain in the Alps east of the Brenner Pass. It is part of the larger Glockner Group of the Hohe Tauern range, situated along the main ridge of the Central Eastern Alps and the Alpine divide. The Pasterze, Austria's most extended glacier, lies on the Grossglockner's eastern slope. The characteristic pyramid-shaped peak actually consists of two pinnacles, the ''Grossglockner'' and the Kleinglockner (, from German: ''groß'', "big", ''klein'', "small"), separated by the ''Glocknerscharte'' col.
