Gran Alternativa 2012
The ''Torneo Gran Alternativa'' (2012) (Spanish for "Great Alternative Tournament") was the 2012 version of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre's (CMLL) ''Torneo Gran Alternativa'', a tournament they had held almost every year since 1994. The 2012 version was the eighteenth ''Torneo Gran Alternativa'' and was held in March and April 2012. The tournament consisted of 16 tag teams, composed of a ''Novato'' (rookie) and a veteran wrestler, who may not normally team up. Block A, which was won by the team of Euforia and El Terrible, took place on March 30, 2012, and Block B, which was won by Atlantis and Tritón, took place on April 6. The finals of the tournament were held on April 13 and were won by Euforia and El Terrible. the victory was the impetus for Euforia later joining '' Los Guerreros del Infierno'' ("The Warriors from the Inferno"). Atlantis (wrestler)
Atlantis (born September 28, 1962) is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' (masked professional wrestler), working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) where he performs as a ''Técnico'' (face or "good guy" character) and is one of the longest-tenured ''luchador'' in CMLL history. Atlantis was trained by Diablo Velasco, made his in-ring debut in 1983 and has always wrestled under the ring name Atlantis, named after the sunken city of Atlantis. Atlantis has held a large number of professional wrestling championships over the years, both in Mexico and in Japan, both individually and as a tag team. He has also won the mask of several prominent wrestlers through his career including Kung Fu, Villano III, Último Guerrero and La Sombra. Puma King (born July 6, 1990) is a Mexican ''Luchador'' '' enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler currently working with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), but also as a freelancer in many Mexican promotions such as Lucha Memes, MexaWrestling and many more. He is best known for his time working for the Mexico City-based professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Puma frequently teams with his brother, ''luchador'' Tiger. Pegasso (born February 25, 1978) is a Mexican ''Luchador enmascarado'' (or masked professional wrestler) working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Pegasso worked from Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) from 2000 until 2008, where he was a part of the wrestling stable ''Real Fuerza Aérea''. José Gutiérrez Hernández (born March 1, 1972), better known by his ring name Último Guerrero (Spanish for ''Last Warrior''), is a Mexico, Mexican (or Professional wrestling, professional wrestler), who works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde (born December 22, 1982), better known by his ring name Místico (Spanish for "Mystic"), is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' (or masked professional wrestler), who currently works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Initially working as Místico, he later signed with WWE, where he was known under the name Sin Cara (Spanish for "Without Face" or "Faceless"). Upon his return to Mexico, he worked under the name Myzteziz in AAA, before settling on the ring name Carístico upon returning to CMLL in 2015. In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans, and acts as a protagonist to the heels, who are the villainous antagonist or "bad guy" characters. Traditionally, they wrestle within the rules and avoid cheating (in contrast to the villains who use illegal moves and call in additional wrestlers to do their work for them) while behaving positively towards the referee and the audience. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. "The role of a heel is to get 'heat,' which means spurring the crowd to obstreperous hatred, and generally involves cheating and pretty much any other manner of socially unacceptable behavior that will get the job done."
