Grammis
The Grammis are music awards presented annually to musicians and songwriters in Sweden. The oldest Swedish music awards, they were instituted as a local equivalent of the Grammy Awards given in the United States. The awards ceremony is generally held each year in February in Stockholm. The awards were established in 1969 and awarded until 1972 when they were cancelled, then revived in 1987. There are around 20 different award categories, which have changed over the years. Swedish artists and foreign artists who live in Sweden are eligible, as are artists in other countries if their music is produced in Sweden and targets a Swedish audience. Popsicle (band)
Popsicle was a Swedish pop music, pop group in Piteå, Sweden, which together with This Perfect Day (band), This Perfect Day, The Wannadies and Brainpool (band), Brainpool started the 1990s indiepop wave in Sweden. History The band's four members, Andreas Mattsson (vocals, guitar), Fredrik Norberg (guitar, vocals), PA Wikander (drums) and Kenneth Wikstrom (Bass guitar, bass), later replaced by Arvid Lind, formed the band in Stockholm in 1991 and released their first mini-album ''Template (album), Template'' (1992) on Skellefteå label A West Side Fabrication. Philemon Arthur And The Dung
Philemon Arthur and the Dung is a music group from Scania, Sweden, consisting of two members known only by their pseudonyms ''Philemon Arthur'' and ''the Dung''. The band formed in the early 1960s under the name The Popbeams, which they changed before the release of their first album in 1972. The duo's true identities are most likely known only to a few individuals at Silence Records, the record label that the band has worked with since 1971. Philemon Arthur and the Dung do not want their identities to be known, lest those who live in their small village find out who they are. The band's music is recorded on reel-to-reel tape decks with crackling microphones and is played on untuned guitars, accordion and a home-made drum kit built of tin cans and trays, with the occasional accompaniment of household objects such as saucepans, radiators and toy instruments. Henrik Schyffert
Per Henrik Schyffert (born 23 February 1968) is a Swedish comedian, actor, musician and radio and television personality. Career Schyffert was a VJ for MTV Europe in the late 1980s. In 1992 he hosted the comedy TV show ''I Manegen Med Glenn Killing'', also starring Robert Gustafsson and Johan Rheborg. The program was later turned into a successful stage show. In 1993 he created the radio show ''Hassan'' with Kristian Luuk in Stockholm. The show centered on prank phone calls and off-the-wall comedy sketches. He left Hassan as his career with the "Killing" gang took off, and he and Luuk were replaced by Fredrik Lindström. After the show's cancellation in December 1994, ''Hassan'' became a cult phenomenon, and as of October 2008 seven CDs have been released with material from the show. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is the organisation that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. It is a non-profit members' organisation registered in Switzerland and founded in Italy in 1933 by Francesco Braga. Grand Hôtel is a five-star hotel in Stockholm. It was founded by Frenchman, Jean-François Régis Cadier, in 1872. It opened on 14 June 1874 at the same time as the Grand Hotel in Oslo; all the Scandinavian capitals have a major hotel called 'Grand Hotel'. The Grand Hôtel is located next to the Nationalmuseum and opposite the Royal Palace and ''Gamla stan'' (the old town). Avicii Arena, originally known as Stockholm Globe Arena and previously as Ericsson Globe, but commonly referred to in Swedish simply as Globen (; "the Globe"), is an indoor arena located in Stockholm Globe City, Johanneshov district of Stockholm, Sweden. Magnus Uggla
Per Allan Magnus Claësson Uggla (pronounced ; born 18 June 1954) is a Swedish artist, composer, actor, and occasional radio host. He is known for his satire, satirical lyrics. Uggla was born in Stockholm. He was the lead singer of the hard rock band JUSO (later renamed Alexander Lucas) before going solo in the early 1970s. Their influences were Black Sabbath, The Groundhogs and Alice Cooper, among others. Uggla's first two glam rock, glam- and art rock-inspired albums ''Om Bobbo Viking'' and ''Livets teater''ˈ did not sell well, the first only about 500 copies in Sweden and ''Livets teater'' even less. Annexet
The Annexet is one of the venues in Stockholm Globe City, located in Stockholm, Sweden. The venue opened in 1989 and has a capacity of 3,950 people. Events Annexet is mostly used for concerts and ice hockey matches. All shows of Melodifestivalen 2021 were held in the Annexet. Due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, no audience was present. In 2021 and 2022, the Swedish Sports Awards were held in the Annexet instead of the usual venue, the Globe Arena, also due to COVID-19 restrictions. TV4 (''TV fyra'') is a Swedish free-to-air television network owned by TV4 AB, a subsidiary of the TV4 Media AB. It started broadcasting by satellite in 1990 and, since 1992, on terrestrial television. In 1994, TV4 became the largest channel and remained so for a number of years. The two channels of Sveriges Television (SVT) lost more and more viewers for a couple of years. After making schedule changes in 2001, SVT1 had practically the same numbers of viewers as TV4. Kungliga Tennishallen
Kungliga tennishallen (English: Royal Tennis Hall) is a tennis venue at Lidingövägen 75 in Stockholm, Sweden. The stadium was built in October 1943 and has a capacity of 5,000. Kungliga tennishallen, now a hard-court surface, remains the venue for the men's Stockholm Open tournament which was first held in 1969. In 1975 the venue was the host of the year-end Masters tennis tournament as well as the Davis Cup final between Sweden and Czechoslovakia.
