Graham Shirley is an Australian author, researcher, curator and filmmaker best known for his work in the area of Australian film history. He was one of the original class of the Australian Film Television and Radio School and is the co-author of ''Australian Cinema: The First Eighty Years'', a classic history of the Australian film industry. Australian Film Television And Radio School
The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), formerly Australian Film and Television School, is Australia's national screen arts and broadcast school. Opened to students in 1973 as Film and Television School (FTS), after accreditation with CILECT it was renamed Australian Film Television School (AFTS) in 1976. To coincide with a move to a new location around 1986, the school was renamed the Australian Film Television and Radio School. The school is a Commonwealth Government statutory authority, and is ranked by ''The Hollywood Reporter'' as one of 15 top global film schools. The Dismissal (miniseries)
''The Dismissal'' is an Australian television miniseries, first screened in 1983, that dramatised the events of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis. It was partly written and directed by the noted film makers George Miller and Phillip Noyce as well as ''Mad Max'' screenwriter Terry Hayes, with cinematography by Dean Semler. The miniseries comprised six one-hour episodes. It was originally broadcast by Network Ten, beginning on 6 March 1983 (the day after the 1983 federal election), and was also broadcast in the United Kingdom. It was voted the 19th-best Australian television show on the '' 50 Years 50 Shows'' list. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting, and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984.
