Veliko Gradište
Veliko Gradište ( sr-cyr, Велико Градиште, ; ro, Grădiștea Mare) is a town and municipality located in the Braničevo District of the eastern Serbia. It is situated the right bank of the Danube river and left bank of the Pek river. In 2011, the town has a total population of 6,204, while the municipality has 17,610. Name The name means "large construction site" in Serbian. Names in other languages: ro, Grădiștea Mare. History Thracians and Dacians lived in the region prior to the Roman conquering of the Balkans in the 1st century BC, when the town was known as "Pincum", in the province of Upper Moesia. Gradište (Binačko)
Pogradja Castle ( al, Pogragjë, Kalaja e Pogragjës) or (Serbo-Croatian: Podgrađe; sr-cyr, Подграђе) is a fortress located near village of Pogragjë, 10 kilometers south-east of Gjilan, Kosovo. It was built on a hill overlooking the confluence of a stream in Morava e Binçës and dates back to 6th century. It is designated as Protected Archaeological Site, under protection of the Republic of Kosovo. Layout The fortress is situated on a hill that rises about 50 meters above the river valley. It consists of the Lower Town, surrounded by walls and a more preserved citadel (Upper Town) at the top of the hill. The layout of Upper Town is based on irregular pentagon that follows the shape of the hilltop, with three vertices (southwest, northwest and northeast) reinforced with towers. Horodyshche ( uk, Городище, ; yi, האָרעדישטש, Horedishtsh) is a city located in Cherkasy Raion of Cherkasy Oblast (province) in central Ukraine. Tauresium (Latin; mk, Тауресиум), today as Gradište ( mk, Градиште), is an archaeological site in North Macedonia, approximately southeast of the capital Skopje. Tauresium is the birthplace of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (ca. 482) and King Theodahad of the Ostrogoths (480). Location and general characteristics Tauresium is located in Zelenikovo Municipality, near the village Taor, some southeast of Skopje. The site was discovered by British archaeologist Arthur Evans in the late 19th century. According to Justinian's biographer Procopius, the Emperor was born in Tauresium in 482, more precisely in the castle of Baderiana, which is near the modern village Bader. Dolno Gradište ( mk, Долно Градиште) is a village in North Macedonia. It is located 6 kilometres north of Kočani, at the base of Mount Osogovo and at the northern coast of Lake Gradče. The site is situated on a prominent hill of the same name, located between the gorges of the Mala and Golema rivers which meet form the Kočani River.
