Governor Stirling Senior High School
Governor Stirling Senior High School (abbreviated as GSSHS) is a public co-educational partially selective high day school, located in Woodbridge, a north-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The school provides both a vocational and tertiary entrance education for students from Year 7 to Year 12. Opened in 1959, the school replaced the former Midland Junction High School (MJHS) founded in 1901, at a new site in West Midland. History The school was officially opened on 28 October 1959 by then Western Australian Minister for Education, Arthur Watts. On that day its name was officially changed from Midland Junction High School to Governor Stirling Senior High School, named after James Stirling. Transperth Train Operations is a division of the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia. It is responsible for operating Perth’s urban passenger rail system, as part of the Transperth network. Perth's passenger rail network covers of track with 90 stations on 8 lines across the city's greater metropolitan area. Over the last three decades the rail network has undergone rapid expansion. Cyril Jackson Senior Campus is an Independent Public senior secondary school in Bassendean, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It serves approximately 400 compulsory age and mature age students from Year 11 to Year 12. Overview The surrounding area saw a large growth in population in the 1950s with the creation of a public housing estate in Ashfield. The school was established in 1961 or 1962 as a standard public secondary school, but only officially opened in 1964. It was named Cyril Jackson Senior High School, after Cyril Jackson.
