Governor Of Goa
The governor of Goa is a nominal head and representative of the president of India in the state of Goa. The governor is appointed by the president for a term of five years. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai became governor on 7 July 2021. Powers and functions The governor has: *Executive powers related to administration, appointments and removals, *Legislative powers related to lawmaking and the state legislature, that is Vidhan Sabha or Vidhan Parishad, and *Discretionary powers to be carried out according to the discretion of the governor. Emblem Of Goa
The Emblem of Goa is the official emblem of the Government of Goa, a States of India, state of India. Design The emblem depicts a "Vriksha Deep", a type of Diya (light), diya lamp, at its centre. The lamp represents enlightenment through knowledge and is surrounded by a stylised design of coconut leaves which represent the bountiful and beautiful aspects of Goa. A Sanskrit motto appears above the lamp and can be translated as ''"may everyone see goodness, may none suffer any pain"'' (Devnagari: सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद् दुःखमाप्नुयात्; ''Sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu mā kaścid duḥkhamāpnuyāt''). Romesh Bhandari (29 March 1928 – 7 September 2013) was an Indian Foreign Secretary, former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and former governor of Tripura, Goa and Uttar Pradesh. Career Bhandari was born in Lahore, present day Pakistan, to Amar Nath Bhandari, a Punjab High Court Judge who was part of bench which decided Gandhi Assassination case. The governors of the states of India have similar powers and functions at the state level as those of the president of India at the central level. Governors exist in the states, while lieutenant governors exist in union territories including the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. The history of Goa dates back to prehistoric times, though the present-day state of Goa was only established as recently as 1987. In spite of being India's smallest state by area, Goa's history is both long and diverse. Bhagat Singh Koshyari (born 17 June 1942) is an Indian politician serving as the 22nd and current Governor of Maharashtra from 5 September 2019. Satya Pal Malik (born 24 July 1946) is an Indian politician. Mridula Sinha (27 November 1942 – 18 November 2020) was an Indian writer and politician who served as Governor of Goa from August 2014 to October 2019. She was the first woman Governor of Goa. Om Prakash Kohli (born 9 August 1935) is an Indian politician and the former Governor of Gujarat from 2014 to 2019. He was the president of the Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party from 1999 to 2000 and had served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2000. Margaret Nazareth Alva ( born 14 April 1942) is an Indian politician. Alva served as the 17th Governor of Goa, 23rd Governor of Gujarat, 20th Governor of Rajasthan and 4th Governor of Uttarakhand the until the end of her tenure in August 2014.
