The Governor's Residence is a Victorian-style hotel located in Dagon Township, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), located in a teak mansion from the 1920s. It is located in the Embassy Quarter near the Shwedagon Pagoda, the National Museum, the former Foreign Ministry office compound and India House - now the official residence of the ambassador of India. The famed British Gentlemen's Club, the Pegu Club was located nearby. History The elegant teak mansion was built in 1920. The two-story mansion, as its official name denotes, served as the official home of the governors of the British Crown Colony of Burma, such as Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith and Hubert Rance. In 2006 the hotel became part of Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. which in 2014 changed its name to Belmond Ltd. At this point the hotel changed its name to Belmond Governor's Residence. The Delaware Governor's Mansion, also known as Woodburn or Governor's House, is the official residence of the governor of Delaware and the governor's family. It is located in Dover, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Governor's House" in 1972. History The land Woodburn stands upon was granted to David Morgan and his heirs in 1684 by the Swedish crown. In the 1780s Charles Hillyard III purchased the land at a sheriff's sale for $110. In 1790 he constructed the home that would be called Woodburn. and ' The house was inherited by Mary, Hillyard's daughter, and her husband, Martin W. Bates. Bates was a doctor, merchant, lawyer and a U.S. Senator. In 1820 Bates leased Woodburn to the Governor, Jacob Stout, the first time Woodburn was used as the executive's residence. The Governor's House ( uk, Будинок губернатора, translit=Budynok hubernatora) is a 19th-century historical building in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine. The name "Governor's House" originated when the central treasury bought the building at the intersection of Voskresenska Street and Ekaterininsky Prospekt to move the governor of Yekaterinoslav and his office there in 1887. It is home to the Museum of Dnipro City History since 2020. Design The structure is a two-story building with a mezzanine in the center, and was designed using Gothic Revival architecture, neo-Gothic architectural features inside and out. The L-shaped home is primarily two stories with a centrally expanded three stories made of brick and plaster. The second floor's windows are pointed, while the first floor's windows are ring-shaped.
