Eduardo Riedel's term as the 12th Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul began with his inauguration on January 1, 2023, Riedel, a Brazilian Social Democracy Party, social democracy from Rio de Janeiro who once served as secretary in Government of Reinaldo Azambuja, Reinaldo Azambuja's government, took office after his victory in the 2022 Mato Grosso do Sul gubernatorial election, state election in 2022.
