Government Mappillai
''Government Mappillai'' () is a 1992 Indian Tamil language drama film directed Manivannan. The film stars Anandaraj and Kasthuri. The film, produced by G. S. Madhu, had a musical score by Deva and was released on 6 March 1992. Plot Sundarapandian ( Anandaraj), an angry orphan, is the henchman of a rich man Manivannan (Manivannan) and often went to jail for minor offences. Karthikeyan (Ramkumar) enters his house as a servant and falls in love with his daughter Kalyani ( Saradha Preetha). In the meantime, Mallaria ( Kasthuri), an orphan, tries to reform Sundarapandian and they fall in love with each other. One day, a poor girl Chellayi (Ragasudha) is raped and killed by a corrupted Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) (Vasu Vikram). Sundarapandian and Mallaria finally get married, they decide to leave the village but they don't have enough money. Manivannan
S. Manivannan Rajagopal (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013), better known by his mononym Manivannan, was an Indian film director, actor and activist who worked mainly in Tamil cinema and also worked in a few Telugu & Malayalam films. In a career spanning three decades, he went from being a story and dialogue writer for director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor. With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and directed exactly 50 films. Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian, supporting character and villainous roles. He supported various political parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Ponvannan (born Shanmugam; 23 September 1963) is an Indian actor and director who has worked in Tamil cinema and television. After beginning his career as an artist (painter), Ponvannan apprenticed as a director and writer under Bharathiraja. He subsequently made his directorial debut with ''Annai Vayal'' (1992), before making the critically acclaimed venture, ''Nadhi Karaiyinile'' (2003). He has since appeared as a supporting actor in films, winning acclaim for his role in films including ''Paruthiveeran'' (2007), ''Ayan'' (2009) and '' Kaaviya Thalaivan'' (2014). Malaysia Vasudevan
Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood. After a few years, Chattu Nair married Ammalu in an arranged marriage. Vasudevan was born on 15 June 1944 as their eighth and youngest child. Even though he was a Malayali, as was the case with the majority of contemporary South Indian migrants to Malaya then, his surroundings in Malaysia was dominated by the Tamil language and culture. Halwa Vasu
Vasu, popularly known as Halwa Vasu, (died 17 August 2017) was a comedian in the Tamil film industry in India. He worked in around 900 films. Career Vasu who hailed from Madurai district, came to Chennai to work in cinemas after his graduation. Vasu worked as an assistant to director-actor Manivannan, he carved a niche for himself in comedy films and has also acted alongside the likes of Vadivelu. He was given the name "Halwa Vasu" after the film ''Amaidhi Padai'' (1994), in which he brings halwa which is adulterated with abin, a drug, by the antagonist in the movie who uses it to rape an innocent girl. Death He was hospitalized for some time but died due to liver failure at his home on 17 August 2017. Periya Karuppu Thevar
Periya Karuppa Thevar (1936 - 18 September 2012) was a Tamil film character artiste and folk singer who appeared in Tamil-language films. Film career PKT was part of the drama troupe floated by veteran Sankaradoss Swamigal more than fifty years ago. Like many actors of his era, he had made the grade to films as an actor after toiling hard on stage where he used to be quite popular for his acting as well as in singing many folk songs. His film career has spanned many decades in which he had starred in more than 200 films including a memorable role in Bharathiraaja's Mann Vasanai and in Gangai Amaren's Karagattakkaran which had memorable songs by Ilaiyaraaja.
