Government Islamia College Civil Lines (), officially Government Islamia Graduate College, Civil Lines, Lahore, and formerly known as Dayanand Anglo Vedic College, is a government college in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Founded by the Arya Samaj as the Dayanand Anglo Vedic school on 1 June 1886, It was later renamed Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College after the Hindu leader Dayananda Saraswati. The college was nationalized by the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto regime in 1972. It is operated by the Ministry of Education (Higher Wing), Government of Punjab, Pakistan. History The Islamia College, Civil Lines was originally founded by the Arya Samaj as a school in 1866 and later named the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College in Lahore. Salig Ram (politician)
Dr. Salig Ram (15 August 1909 – 4 November 1986; also written as Dr. Saligram) was a medical doctor, freedom fighter, and politician from Himachal Pradesh, India. He belonged to the Indian National Congress. Over 1966–72, he served as a Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. Over 1972–77, he served as a Minister with various portfolios in the Government of Himachal Pradesh, principally under the Chief Ministership of Y.S. Parmar and later for a brief period under Thakur Ram Lal. He was known as a dissident of Y.S. Parmar. Thakur Devi Singh
Thakur Devi Singh (born c. 1922 - died 1989) was a politician from Himachal Pradesh, India. He was among the early major political figures from the Scheduled Tribes of Himachal Pradesh. Personal life Singh belonged to the Lahaul valley in the present-day Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. He was born in Lahaul while Lahaul was still a part of the Kangra district of the Punjab Province of British India. His father was Seth Tenzin, who owned 500 goats and sheep. He went to Government School Katrain (in the Kullu valley) for his schooling, where in 1935, he first met Shiv Chand Thakur, also from Lahaul. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah (5 December 1905 – 8 September 1982) was an Indian politician who played a central role in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah was the founding leader and President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (later renamed Jammu and Kashmir National Conference). He agitated against the rule of the Maharaja Hari Singh and urged self-rule for Kashmir.
