Government College, Madappally (known as Madappally College) is an affiliated college to the University of Calicut, located on a green-clad hillock near Madappally, north of Vatakara town. About college This college has turned to be the hub of higher education in North Kerala. The college was established in 1958, which was then affiliated to the University of Kerala. University Of Calicut
The University of Calicut, also known as Calicut University, is a State ownership, state-run public university headquartered at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district of the state of Kerala, India. Established in 1968, it is the first university to be set up in northern Kerala. The university is coordinated by the University Grants Commission (India), University Grants Commission (re-accredited by NAAC with 'A+' grade). Calicut University, created by bifurcating Kerala University, is the second university to be set up in Kerala. M. M. Gani, 1969–75, was the first vice-chancellor of the university. Vatakara, also spelled Vadakara (formerly Badagara), , french: Bargaret, is a Municipality in the state of Kerala, India. Vatakara is located between Kannur and Kozhikode. Madappally, Vatakara
Madappally is a small town near Vatakara in Kozhikode District, Kerala, India. The 'Pally' name denotes Buddhism. Pally is still the most popular affix used along with place, plot and family names in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra. The Pali word Pally means a non Hindu/ Brahmanic place of worship. In the ancient times it denoted a Jain or Buddhist shrine. According to Ajay S Shekhar, Madappally was one of the world renowned Buddhist shrines of worship, learning, health care and nature conservation. Mullappally Ramachandran
Mullappally Ramachandran (born 7 November 1944) is an Indian politician and former president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). He is a member of the Indian National Congress, and the son of Congress leader Mullappally Gopalan. Mullappally Ramachandran has returned five times consecutively to the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Lok Sabha from Kannur constituency, a strong fortress of rival party CPI(M). Richard Hay (born 9 June 1952) is an Indian politician, representing Bharatiya Janata Party, and was a Member of Parliament from Kerala as a nominated member of the Lok Sabha, representing the Anglo-Indian community from 2015 to 2019. Early life and career Richard Hay was born in Thalassery, Kerala and had his education at Holy Angels School and St. Joseph's School, Thalassery. Akbar Kakkattil (7 July 1954 – 17 February 2016) was an Indian short-story writer and novelist from Kerala state. Life Akbar was born on 7 July 1954 at Kakkattil in Vadakara as the only son out of the two children of his parents, Sri. P. Abdulla and Smt. Kunjhamina. K. P. Suveeran is a film and drama director from Kozhikode. His first movie ''Byari'' won the National Film Award for Best Film in 2011. This is the first feature film to be made in the Beary language. Biography Suveeran is a native of Azhiyur, Kozhikode.
