Goubau Family
The Goubau family was an important noble family of Antwerp, many of its members are related to other important families. In 1633 king Felipe IV of Spain granted nobility. In 1866 the last member of the family died. The family had many important residences amongst them ''den Wolsack'' (1593) in Antwerp and Cortewalle Castle in Beveren. In Mespelare and Dendermonde they did important gift to the local church and founded the so-called ''Spaans hof'' in 1643 to Honour Aldegondis van Maubeuge. Joannes or John ( la, Iohannes; died 425) was western Roman emperor from 423 to 425. On the death of the Emperor Honorius (15 August 423), Theodosius II, the remaining ruler of the House of Theodosius, hesitated in announcing his uncle's death. In the ''interregnum'', Honorius's patrician at the time of his death, Castinus, elevated Joannes as emperor. History Joannes was a ''primicerius notariorum'' or senior civil servant at the time of his elevation. Procopius praised him as "both gentle and well-endowed with sagacity and thoroughly capable of valorous deeds." Unlike the Theodosian emperors, he tolerated all Christian sects and even the pagans. Great Council Of Mechelen
From the 15th century onwards, the Great Council of the Netherlands at Mechelen (Dutch: ''De Grote Raad der Nederlanden te Mechelen''; French: ''le grand conseil des Pays-Bas à Malines''; German: ''der Grosse Rat der Niederlände zu Mecheln'') was the highest court in the Burgundian Netherlands.
