Gottfried Kolditz
Gottfried Kolditz (14 December 1922 – 15 June 1982) was a German movie actor and director. Biography Kolditz was born in Goldbach-Altenbach to a farm family. Between 1945 and 1949 he studied German philology at the University of Leipzig, and took a course of direction and acting in 1947–1949 at the Leipzig Higher School of Music and Drama. In the early 1950s he worked as an actor and director at various theaters in East Germany. After 1955 he worked at DEFA, the East German film studio, in a wide range of genres: fairy tales ("Ms. Blizzard," from the story of the same name by the Brothers Grimm), adventure films, musicals, and science fiction ("Signals" and "B dust of stars" on themes similar to ''2001: A Space Odyssey''). He wrote scripts both for himself and for other directors. He was widely acclaimed for his Red Westerns with actor Gojko Mitić: "Next Falcon", "Apache" and "Ulzana." Wolfgang Jeschke
Wolfgang Jeschke (19 November 1936 – 10 June 2015) was a German science fiction author and editor at Heyne Verlag. In 1987, he won the Harrison Award for international achievements in science fiction. Biography Jeschke was born in 1936 in Děčín (then in Czechoslovakia, now in the Czech Republic). After the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia after World War II, he grew up in Asperg near Ludwigsburg. After graduating from high school, he trained as a toolmaker and worked in mechanical engineering. In 1959, he went back to complete the and studied German, English literature, and philosophy at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He completed a publishing internship at the publisher C.H. Beck. In 1969, he was hired as editorial assistant for the Kindler literature encyclopedia, and later became an editor. In 1970, author Herbert W. Karsten Kruschel
Karsten Kruschel (born 1959 in Havelberg) is a German science fiction writer, essayist and critic, who lives near Leipzig. His best known works are the Deutscher Science Fiction Preis winning novels ''Vilm'' and ''Galdäa''. Some of his short stories were nominated for or won the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis. Kruschel is the younger son of the writer Heinz Kruschel (1929–2011). He grew up in Magdeburg and studied History and German Philology. Later he became a teacher and a copy editor (amongst others). He received his doctorate in German Philology in 1991 by writing a dissertation about the science fiction literature in the GDR. ''In the Dust of the Stars'' (German: ''Im Staub der Sterne'', Romanian: ''Revoltă în cosmos'') is a 1976 East German science fiction film, co-produced with Romania and directed by Gottfried Kolditz. Some of the film's props were part of a 2009 exhibit entitled "Retrospektive in die Zukunft" and ''Twitch Film'' screened the film as part of their ''Attack The Bloc'' screening series. Synopsis The spaceship Cynro has received a distress call from the planet TEM 4. The crew tries to respond but ends up crash landing on the planet as a result of radio waves. Emerging from the ship, the crew is brought to the planet's leader Ronk (Milan Beli), who tells the Cynro crew that there was never any accident and that the distress call was all a mistake. As an apology he invites the crew to a party, much to the misgivings of Suko (Alfred Struwe), the ship's navigator. Sensing that there is more to Ronk's claims, Suko refuses the invitation.
