Johann Gottfried Becker (1639–1711)
Johann Gottfried Becker (7 October 1639 — 17 May 1711) was a Danish pharmacist. He served as court pharmacist for Frederick III of Denmark, Frederick III and opened the Kongelig Hof Apotek, Elephant Pharmacy on Købmagergade in Copenhagen in 1670. Early life and education Becker was born in Husum, the son of principal Gottfried Becker (1600–1652) by his first wife Elisabeth Ehrenreich (died 1645). He apprenticed as a pharmacist in Flensburg from 1655 and stayed there for six years. He then went on a study trip to Türol but returned to Denmark in 1664 where he stayed with his brother in Odense for about a year. He then went on another study trip to Germany, Italy and Vienna. Career In 1668 Becker was called home to Denmark to serve as court pharmacist for Frederick III of Denmark, Frederick III. He had been recommended for the position by Giuseppe Francesco Borri. Gotfried Becker (1681–1750) was a Denmark, Danish pharmacist. He owned Kongelig Hof Apotek, Elefant Apotek in Købmagergade in Copenhagen from 1708 and served as royal court pharmacist from 1712. Early life and education Becker was born in Copenhagen on 24 January 1681, the eldest son of pharmacist Johann Gottfried Becker (1639–1711), Johann Gottfried Becker and Sophie Iversdatter Bath. His two younger brothers and two younger sisters did not survive childhood. His father was the owner of Kongelig Hof Apotek, Elefant Apotek in Købmagergade. Becker was taught the trade by his father and then continued his studied abroad in 1702–5. Career In 1708 Becker took over the pharmacy in Købmagergade after his father. Gottfried Becker (9 February 1767 – 21 June 1845) was a Danish pharmacist, professor and industrialist. He was the owner of Elefant Apotek on Købmagergade in Copenhagen. Early life and education Becker was born in Copenhagen, the son of Johan Gottfried Becker (1723–90) and his wife Anna Christine Torm (1738–1809).
