The Gotlands Fotbollförbund ''(Gotland Football Association)'' is one of the 24 district organisations of the Swedish Football Association. It administers lower tier football on the island of Gotland. Background Gotlands Fotbollförbund, commonly referred to as Gotlands FF, is the governing body for football in the county of Gotland. The Association was founded on 27 February 1921 and currently has 32 member clubs. Based in Visby, the Association's Chairman is Hans Rosengren. Gotland is a member of the International Island Games Association and the Gotland football team has taken part in Football at the Island Games. Visby () is an urban area in Sweden and the seat of Gotland Municipality in Gotland County on the island of Gotland with 24,330 inhabitants . Visby is also the episcopal see for the Diocese of Visby. The Hanseatic city of Visby is arguably the best-preserved medieval city in Scandinavia, and, since 1995, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Among the most notable historical remains are the long town wall that encircles the town center, and a number of church ruins. The decline as a Hanseatic city in the Late Middle Ages was the cause why many stone houses were preserved in their original medieval style. Visby is a popular vacation destination for Scandinavians during the summer and receives thousands of tourists every year. FC Gute, previously named ''Visby IF Gute'', is a Swedish football club located in Visby on the island of Gotland. They currently play in the fourth-tier league Division 2 Norra Svealand. Background The club was formed in 1904 as ''Visby IF Gute'', and in November 2007 changed name to the present name FC Gute. The club plays in the Division 2 Norra Svealand which is the fourth tier of the Swedish football league system. They play their home matches at the Gutavallen arena in Visby, but occasionally they play at an artificial pitch in Rävhagen, Visby called "Rävhagens konstgräs" if Gutavallen is unavailable.
