Gordon Young (writer)
Gordon Young (1886 – February 10, 1948) was an American writer of adventure and western stories. Life Young was born in Ray County, Missouri.P. R. He worked as a cowboy and served in the United States Marine Corps in the Philippines, before moving to Los Angeles and taking a job at the ''Los Angeles Times'' in 1914. During his time in Los Angeles, Young befriended the writer Paul Jordan-Smith and the painter Edward Middleton Manigault. Young eventually became Literary Editor of the ''Los Angeles Times''; one of his correspondents was Sinclair Lewis. He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles, February 10, 1948. Western Fiction
Western fiction is a genre of literature set in the American Old West frontier and typically set from the late eighteenth to the late nineteenth century. Well-known writers of Western fiction include Zane Grey from the early 20th century and Louis L'Amour from the mid-20th century. The genre peaked around the early 1960s, largely due to the popularity of televised Westerns such as '' Bonanza''. Readership began to drop off in the mid- to late 1970s and reached a new low in the 2000s. Most bookstores, outside a few west American states, only carry a small number of Western fiction books. Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (15 August 1771 – 21 September 1832), was a Scottish novelist, poet, playwright and historian.
