Gordon Owen
Gordon Owen (born 14 June 1959) is an English former professional Association football, footballer who made 300 appearances in the English Football League, Football League. Career A much travelled player, Owen was born in Barnsley and began his career at Sheffield Wednesday F.C., Sheffield Wednesday, featuring in the club's promotion winning season under Jack Charlton in 1979–80. After falling out of favour at the club, spending spells on loan at Rotherham United F.C., Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers F.C., Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield F.C., Chesterfield, he left to sign for Cardiff City F.C., Cardiff City in August 1983. His only season at Ninian Park saw him finish as the club's top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions but at the end of the season he decided to leave the club as he wanted to return north, signing for his hometown side Barnsley F.C., Barnsley, again finishing as top scorer in his first season. Barnsley () is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. As the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley and the fourth largest settlement in South Yorkshire. In Barnsley, the population was 96,888 while the wider Borough has seen an increase of 5.8%, from 231,200 in 2011 census to 244,600 in 2021 census. Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril. Ninian Park
Ninian Park was a football stadium in the Leckwith area of Cardiff, Wales, that was the home of Cardiff City F.C. for 99 years. Opened in 1910 with a single wooden stand, it underwent numerous renovations during its lifespan and hosted fixtures with over 60,000 spectators in attendance. At the time of its closure in 2009, it had a capacity of 21,508. Cardiff City had originally been playing home fixtures at Sophia Gardens but the lack of facilities at the ground had prevented them from joining the Southern Football League. To combat this, club founder Bartley Wilson secured a plot of land from Cardiff Corporation that had previously been used as a rubbish tip and construction of a new ground began in 1909. John Charlton (8 May 193510 July 2020) was an English footballer and manager who played as a defender. He was part of the England national team that won the 1966 World Cup and managed the Republic of Ireland national team from 1986 to 1996 achieving two World Cup and one European Championship appearances.
