Gordon Blaine McTavish (1925 – February 21, 2019) was a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler and judge. He was a . He wasn't a champion like his other teammates, as he replaced Ron Braunstein (curler), Ron Braunstein at second position, who was a medical student at the time and had to miss the World championships that year. In 1960–1961 he was a president of Granite Curling Club (Winnipeg), Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg. Personal life The Honourable Gordon McTavish served as a Provincial Court of Manitoba, provincial court judge in Manitoba from 1971 to 1999. He was married to Milly Johnson and had two children. In addition to curling, he was involved in horse racing as an owner and judge. He graduated from Manitoba Law School and was called to the bar in 1961. He worked for the law firm Keith and Westbury before entering private practise. In 1965 he was appointed as justice of the peace for Fort Garry, Manitoba, Fort Garry. The Granite Curling Club (also known as The Granite), located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is the oldest Lists of curling clubs in Canada, curling club in western Canada. Affectionately known to curling fans as the "Mother Club", it has produced many Canadian and world champions. It is often considered to be the "The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, St. Andrews" of curling because of its contribution to the sport in curling's most dominant region. History The original Granite Curling Club dates back to 1880. Its current downtown location and Tudor architecture, Tudor-framed clubhouse was built in 1913, and the building has since been designated as a Winnipeg Heritage Building.
