Gordon Edington
George Gordon Edington, CBE, FRICS, FRSA (born 7 September 1945), known as Gordon Edington, is a London-born businessman, and writer. He was Vice President and President of the British Property Federation, Group Property Director of BAA Airports Ltd and Non Executive Director of Lend Lease Group. He was awarded the CBE in 2006 for services to children as chair of the NCH. Edington is the son of George Adam Edington and Phyllis Mary (née Allan). When he was 13 months old the family went to live in Kenya, where his father was an engineer working on the Sasumua Dam. In Kenya he went to a nursery school in the Aberdare Mountains and then to St. Mary's boarding school in Nairobi. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order.
