Gordon College Of Education
Gordon College of Education is a teachers college in Haifa, Israel. History Gordon College was established in Haifa in 1953, merging the Teacher’s Seminary of the Labor Movement with the Teacher’s Seminary of the Hebrew Reali School of Haifa. The school was named for A.D. Gordon. From its foundation, it has focused on the development of teaching skills and furthered Zionist, Jewish and humanistic values. From 1953 until 1995, Gordon College was accredited to certify teachers. In 1995, it received academic accreditation to grant the Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed). Gordon College is also a center of teacher’s enrichment programs for the Ministry of Education of Northern Israel. Hava Lazarus-Yafeh
Hava Lazarus–Yafeh (1930–1998; ) was a German-born Israeli Orientalist, scholar, editor, and educator. She known for her work in medieval and modern Islamic Studies and interfaith relations. Lazarus–Yafeh was a professor and a head of the Department for Islamic Civilization at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She won the Israel Prize in history in 1993. Biography Hava Lazarus was born on May 6, 1930 in Wiesbaden, Province of Hesse-Nassau, Weimar Republic (present-day Germany) to a Jewish family. Her mother was Jadwiga Walfisz, a teacher; and her father was a noted German Rabbi . In November 1938, the Wiesbaden Synagogue, where her father had recently retired from, was destroyed on Kristallnacht. In February 1939, the Lazarus family emigrated to Mandatory Palestine. The education system in Israel consists of three tiers: primary education (grades 1–6, approximately ages 6–12), middle school (grades 7–9, approximately ages 12–15) and high school (grades 10–12, approximately ages 15–19). Compulsory education takes place from kindergarten through 10th grade. As of August 2021, there are ten universities and 53 colleges in Israel, which are recognized and academically supervised by the Council for Higher Education in Israel. In addition, Israel founded a university in Ariel in the West Bank, which used to be academically supervised by the Council for Higher Education in Judea and Samaria. As many course offerings are varied, Israeli universities are considered to be of top quality, and they are inexpensive to attend. Israel's quality university education is largely responsible for spurring the country's high tech boom and rapid economic development.
