Gordon Edgar Downie (February 6, 1964 – October 17, 2017) was a Canadian rock singer-songwriter, musician, writer and activist. He was the singer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, which he fronted from its formation in 1984 until his death in 2017. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and popular artists in Canadian music history. Gord Johns (born November 29, 1969) is a Canadian businessman and politician. Since 2015, he has served as the New Democrat Member of Parliament for the federal electoral riding of Courtenay—Alberni in the House of Commons of Canada. He previously served as a town councillor for Tofino, British Columbia and founded a number of small businesses. Gord Martineau
Gord Martineau (born September 23, 1947) is a Canadian television journalist. In April 2007, he received a lifetime achievement award from the RTNDA for 40 years in broadcasting. Martineau worked briefly in radio in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Montreal with CJAD, as well as CJCH-TV in Halifax and CFCF-TV in Montreal before heading to Toronto. At CFCF-TV he served as weekend anchor of "Pulse". In Toronto, he worked briefly for CFTO-TV but made his name as the senior anchor of Citytv's City''News'' (formerly City''Pulse'') newscast in Toronto. Gord Miller (born March 27, 1953) is a Canadian politician who was the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, having served from February 1, 2000 to May 18, 2015. He was appointed to a five-year term in 2000 and was reappointed to this position in 2005 and 2010 for two consecutive five-year terms. Early life Before his appointment, he worked for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment for 14 years as a scientist, manager of training and development, and as a district manager. He also helped to set up the advocacy organization Ontario Public Interest Group Guelph.
