Gorbatov (russian: Горба́тов) is a town in Pavlovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia, located on the bank of the Oka River in the Meshchera Lowlands. Population: It was previously known as ''Gorbatovo'' (until 1779). History The region was settled by the Meshchera tribe during the Middle Ages. The village of Gorbatovo () was first documented in 1565 as a ''votchina'' of Prince Alexander Gorbaty-Shuysky after whom it takes its name. Its growth was owing to the manufacture of ropes and cherry cultivation. In 1779, Gorbatovo was merged with Meshchera '' sloboda'' and chartered as a town. Modern Gorbatov is one of Russia's smallest towns. Gorbatov was born in Stavropol in the Samara province. He lived in from 1896 to 1903, and studied civil engineering before painting. Alexander Vasilyevich Gorbatov (russian: Алекса́ндр Васи́льевич Горба́тов; 21 March 1891 – 7 December 1973) was a Russian and Soviet officer who served as an officer in the Imperial Russian Army during the First World War and as a Colonel-General in the Red Army during the Second World War, and was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Following the war, Gorbatov served as a Soviet commandant in Soviet-occupied Germany and East Germany and ultimately retired as a four-star general at the rank of General of the Army. His acclaimed autobiography, entitled "''Years off My Life''" was published in 1964. The Belgrade Drama Theatre ( sr-cyr, Београдско драмско позориште; abbr. BDP) is a theatre located in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. History Belgrade Drama Theatre was founded in August 1947, and it was the first city theater formed in Belgrade after the Second World War. The first opening night of "The Youth of the Fathers" by Boris Gorbatov staged by Petar S. Petrović was performed on the stage on 20 February 1948. The theater, currently located in a building on Crveni Krst, was opened in the season of 1948/49. On 20 March 1949, the theater hosted its opening night performance of "Sumnjivo lice" by Branislav Nušić, produced by Bosnian Salko Repak.
