History The district takes its name from the Kia-Ora pastoral property operated by the Elliott family. The name comes from the Māori greeting '' Kia ora''. Kia-Ora Provisional School opened on 18 July 1921 on land donated by the Elliott family. It became a state school in 1927. In 1931, the main industries were dairying and forestry. Wolvi is a rural locality in the Gympie Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Wolvi had a population of 467 people. History The locality name ''Wolvi'' is derived from the Aboriginal word ( Kabi language, Dulingbara dialect), ''wolvai'' or ''wollai'', meaning a ''young kangaroo almost weaned''. In 1887, of land were resumed from the Tagigan pastoral run. The land was offered for selection for the establishment of small farms on 17 April 1887. Neusa Vale Provisional School opened on 14 August 1899. In 1906 it was renamed Wolvi Provisional School. On 1 January 1909 it became Wolvi State School. Wilsons Pocket is a rural locality in the Gympie Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Wilsons Pocket had a population of 191 people. History The locality was named after Albert Henry (Shepherd) Wilson, (1845 to 1886), one of the earliest landholders in the area. Wilson was born in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England, and he immigrated to New South Wales on the "Bolton" in 1853. He married Mary Cahill at Proston station on 8 June 1869 and they had two sons. He selected Portion 1120, Parish of Goomborian on 20 July 1878 which was granted on 1 March 1883. From 1875 to about 1882, he worked at the Golden Crown gold mine in Gympie, but may have been farming his selection on Tinana Creek at the same time.
