Goodspeed Airport is located in East Haddam, Connecticut, United States. It has been under new ownership with the support of the Recreational Aviation Foundation since November 2020. The new owners, Eric Zipkin and Bill McEnery, plan to revitalize the airport and bring back the vibrant aviation community that once existed there. Facilities and aircraft Goodspeed Airport is situated 1 mile southeast of the central business district, and contains two runways. Goodspeed Glacier () is a small hanging glacier on the south wall of Wright Valley in Victoria Land, Antarctica, between Hart Glacier and Denton Glacier. Goodspeed House
The Goodspeed House is a historic house in Barnstable, Massachusetts. It is believed to have been built by Roger Goodspeed, Marstons Mills' first settler. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Description and history The Goodspeed House is a -story wood-frame structure, five asymmetrical bays in width, with a side-gable roof and central chimney. Exterior trim is minimal, with simple surrounds around the windows, and a lintel shelf above the main entry. An ell extends to the rear of the house toward a barn. While the house is traditionally claimed to have been built by local settler Roger Goodspeed in 1653, this has since been disputed. The Marstons Mills Historical Society has claimed that the residence is "proven" to have been built before 1708 by Roger's son Ebenezer. Goodspeed Memorial Library
The Wilton Free Public Library is the public library of Wilton, Maine, United States. It is located at 6 Goodspeed Street, across Wilson Stream from Main Street and just north of the town's central business district. It is located in the Goodspeed Memorial Library, an architecturally distinguished building designed by Harry S. Coombs, which was funded by Agnes Goodspeed and completed in 1916. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Architecture and history The library building is a single-story Classical Revival building, built out of tan brick. The building is T-shaped, and stands overlooking Main Street across Wilson Stream. The main facade is three bays wide, the central one projecting and providing the main entrance. The Prince Charles Mountains are a major group of mountains in Mac. Robertson Land in Antarctica, including the Athos Range, the Porthos Range, and the Aramis Range. The highest peak is Mount Menzies, with a height of . Other prominent peaks are Mount Izabelle and Mount Stinear (). These mountains, together with other scattered peaks, form an arc about long, extending from the vicinity of Mount Starlight in the north to Goodspeed Nunataks in the south. These mountains were first observed and photographed from a distance by airmen of USN Operation Highjump, 1946–47. Goodspeed Publishing
Goodspeed Publishing was established by Westin Arthur Goodspeed (1852-1926) in the late 19th century and was based in Nashville, Tennessee, St Louis, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois. By the early 1880s Goodspeed had found success with a series of state and regional histories in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and other northern states, and went on to repeat that success in other areas of the U.S. The publications were primarily divided into sections for each county they studied, and included descriptions of each area's geography, history, government, and religious institutions. Each edition included biographies of prominent citizens. Local industries, businesses, and agriculture were also described, providing a glimpse of late 19th century life in places often ignored by other histories. Goodspeed is a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot developed and produced by Uros Ltd and manufactured in Finland by Sanmina Corporation. This mobile hotspot-router is used to connect up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled clients to a private WLAN. ''Godspeed'', under Captain Bartholomew Gosnold, was one of the three ships (along with ''Susan Constant'' and ''Discovery'') on the 1606–1607 voyage to the New World for the English Virginia Company of London. The journey resulted in the founding of Jamestown in the new Colony of Virginia. History The 40-ton ''Godspeed'' was a fully rigged ship estimated to have been in length. As part of the original fleet to Virginia, leaving on December 20, 1606, she carried 39 passengers, all male, and 13 sailors. The route included a stop in the Canary Islands and Puerto Rico and, with better wind, would have taken about two months to traverse; instead, the voyage lasted 144 days. On June 22, 1607, Newport sailed back for London with ''Susan Constant'' and ''Godspeed'' carrying a load of supposedly precious minerals, leaving behind the 104 colonists and ''Discovery'' (to be used in exploring the area).
